Always on when the key is on? Or ALWAYS on?  You should be able to get your battery tested at an Interstate Battery retailer.. (parts store, lube shop, etc.)  A 5 year old motorcycle battery it's probably just toast... The longest I've ever heard of a car battery lasting was 10 years.. and it was an AC Delco "maintenance free" battery.  Most batteries only last 2-3 years.  Harsh weather wears them out faster.. Freezing Temperatures and Extreme heat will kill batteries in a year or two.. Mild climate (70 degrees and dry year round) will let a battery last 10 years, if it's a GOOD Battery.   If you have access to a trickle charger (12-24 hour charge) I would try to get the battery a good charge before you have it tested.

Aye after 5 years, methinks its time for a new battery. take it to test. it will more than likely fail a load test. getting 5 years out of a moto battery is pretty good IMHO

as long as you got all your power from a switch source, you should be fine.  if the battery IS indeed 4 or 5 yr old, when you left the ignition on, it may have been the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak.  so basically I agree with what everyone has posted, and recommend trickle charging it at night, then having it tested tomorrow.  here in the states, auto parts stores will also test your charging system for you too so I would check on that too
