BTW I take offense to rent a cop we are Security Officers!  21 of us (well not me I can't) got Drunk at our own Theme Park last night breaking all kinds of rules but it was ok  3 of our managers were there right!
Even better was when my lesbian co-worker beat my Army roommate in an arm wrestling contest! It was taped on his camera so I just have to appropriate it while he is on drill this weekend and put it on YouTube. Because, that is what friend's do!

Mary i saw the inference as in a security guard/officer acting as though they had LEO powers, most places they have no more power than the average civvy. ive been both a LEO and a guard. i  have seen both sides of this. most were normal did their job well, some acted like they were cops though.

While living in AZ, i was aguard at desert schools federal credit union. then took a position and palos verde Nuclear facility. ( armed), then after 9/11 briefly employed though TSA at phoenix sky harbour airport. i HAD LEO powers there. finally after that, was still with guard company, BUT took a position wiht phoenix police dept. had co workers with guard company, trying to act like cops. it was comical. had oen even threaten to arrest a person who was broke down at the bank. i informed him of the statute he was kinda breaking, funny thign was, was the person he was hassling was of all people, alice cooper. i miss that job as a guard. was north of 12/hr IN 01 was good pay for an unarmed rentacop, ( i called myself one lol as an LOL not anythign else.

yup i had the gold stripes in AZ as well. in most cases the hardest part f a guard is staying awake lol. at paloverde i HAD ot keep my eyes open. that was a fun post
DSFCU after 9/11 we had military aircraft running sky harbour OCNSTANTLY until civvy planes could fly again. OMG the sounds of b52's was intense
and the fighters that would come in as well. there were so many cameras there. was only 2 places i could park my truck and "relax" i did my job made client happy so heck id read the paper or do whatever

Where I live I wouldn't let most rent-a-cops, or security officers as they're officially called, walk my dog if I had one.  We even have a local mall cop who is obviously we-todd-did.  Many also have criminal records (imagine that!) which makes them less trustworthy than me!

Police Depts are all Companies. In the city I live, Police Headquarters is a company. The police academy is another company. The suburban police stations are all their own separate companies.

So this rent a cop company owned image, applies to ALL police.

As those who make the LAWS we follow are also just companies - but with fancy names - then that makes the Police nothing more than their Policy Enforcing Officers.

The word "officer" comes from the Corporate World. CEO, CFO, etc. So a Cop is part of the corporate world enforcing their policies. They USED to be Policemen and Policewomen. Now, unknown to them, they are corporate muscle.

The ONLY authority one person has over another is that which is Given by the lorded over. YOU (generic you) cannot grant Bob the Plumber any authority over me. A hundred YOUs cannot give Bob any authority over me. Bob will only have Power over me IF I Voluntarily Give It. And if Bob desperately wants power over me and I don't give it, the only option left for Bob is to get Physical. To Physically force himself over me.

Now think of police events you've seen. When the Cop is not GIVEN power, they resort to the Physical.

Just because someone in some room wrote a piece of paper that said the cop has power over you, doesn't make it so. You must agree to it. You must go along with it. BUT, they don't want you to know all this. So it is well masked with official sounding names, authoritative words, phrases and tones, etc.

If you have caused no harm or loss, you have done no real wrong. You might have broken a company policy - just like running in Walmart when their policy is No Running - but that is all. They need you to go along with it.

In Florida that is not true all security officers are licensed by the state and must complete FDLE background check with each annual renewal.

You know what does piss me off though is the lack of respect we do get. I mean seriously I don't go to your place of work and give you constant BS. All I want to do is come in to work do my job and go home just like everyone of you. But, just about every day some dork bag comes in and says you're a rent-a-cop and there's not a damend thing you can do to me. Actually, there is it is called tresspassing and if you come back you get to go to jail plain and simple. If you do attempt to harm me I can use equal force. People have swung at me and they have hit the ground very hard. Then they get to go to jail!
