engine stalled

today morning did 70 miles at steady 75mph and at end of ride the engine spluttered and almost stalled when i had reduced speed to about 50 mph.Then when I opened the throttle fully the engine kinda recovered.

fuel was in PRIM  and had adequate fuel in tank over reserve level.
and adequate oil in engine
what could have caused this

Dont listen to homer ... exhaust bearings - no such thing ... except in homie's bike where he's replaced it 3 times and has gone to synthetic. Yes on his versys. They made them out of junk in that.

You may have had the good old fuel starvation ...
You also could have had an intake manifold leak.

could there be intake manifold leak when engine is at higher rpm and not detected, when I do the WD40 test when idling.
and there is fuel starvation past 85 but some-days the fuel starvation issue just disappears and engine is really smooth at all rpm.
