So today as I was riding behind a pickup truck, a long thin piece of metal (from what I think was one of those political steaks) decided to jump out and just about go through my face! Time seemed to slow down as I hit the brake and move out of the way (prolly seemed closer than. It actually was) regardless that would have hurt a little! Anyone else have anything like that happen to them?   :o

Ive had similar happen in my car, not on my bike though.
I had a semi shred a tire in front of me and the tread hit my windshield, put a long black stripe up my hood and windshield. I actually ducked, I thought it was gonna go through the glass!
Then I had a pickup truck loose a painting, frame and all, I swerved and it missed the front of my car. it then hit the ground and shattered/splintered into wood scrapnel that took out my driver side rear tire.

both incidents occured on the same freeway ramp, about 3-4 months apart. I think I was supposed to learn a lesson, but I didn't.

Lol well good thing you wernt on your bike with the tire shred. That kind of force would take your head off! I've been to a drivers safety class to get out of a speeding ticket and they showed a video of one of those sheds at 60 mph actually going through the windshield of a car. Id a ducked too! Lol

I took a safety class as well, I had 10 points on my licence and they said if I take the $350 class 2 points will be dropped. side note, 2009 was the first year since I started driveing I didnt get a ticket!  :woohoo:
2010 is looking good so far no tickets!

On to the shoulder to go past a turning car. Shoulder was loose gravel. Car started to slide out. I made multiple corrections and changed gears. All in slomo. And was back on the road just as the car was turning.

Working on a slipform machine. The rigger above me did not have his buttons done up. I was not looking at him as I was busy with my own bolts. He cell phone fell from his shirt pocket and began the plummet to the ground below. I saw it peripherally, stopped doing up my bolts, shot out my hand like Spidey and caught it and held it to give it back to him. He just looked at me with a face that showed disbelief in what he just saw. As he grabbed the phone from me he asked, "how'd you do that?" I said, "I have fast reflexes" and continued like it was nothing. I'm so used to such action I think nothing of it anymore. My wife is slowly getting use to it when she might knock something off the bench and I'll scoop down and catch it. Apparently, it's not normal to be so fast.

Maybe it comes from years of top level tennis doubles. Maybe I'm just aware of my environment instead of in a daze like most people. Maybe I was a cat in a previous life. Maybe I am a Ninja on the genetic level. Whatever the reason, to me, living in bullet time is normal.  :dunno_black:

I've done that slow down time thing a few times, it's really wierd when it happens. Only happens in "oh shaZam!, this is hurt" type moments.

One of the best ones was when I was running with some friends. Part of the course included a 2m drop (over a hand rail and down onto the ground). normally I stepped on the hand rail and jumped up, this time I missed and tripped over it. On my way to the ground head first I shot my hand out grabbed part of the frame and did a 180 as I flipped over to get my feet on the ground. Watching my hand move slowly as I grabbed the bar, but I was moving my hand as fast as I could.
