We gave our bikes a nice group outing today.
Saturday 3 of us took our GS500's for a nice ride to Vashon Island. They loved it! Ride to the ferry. Short ferry ride to the island. 45 miles all over Vashon Island then a ferry back to Seattle. We loved it as much as our bikes did!

4 GS's in the carport before we took off for the ferry terminal.

Our bikes enjoying the sun in the waterfront.

Filled her up and lubed the chain.

Ad..Guy... what's that bag you've got there.

Junior got a new Gimbel seat today and R&G bar ends. He's beginning to take shape! Looking sharp! Will paint the seat after the new fuel tank goes on. Not sure if it should be painted red or black. Gray wheels go on within the week along with a complete tune up. After that, the new tank and the rest of the new stuff goes on. Should I remove the passenger pegs? I like how the silver in this color of tail follows the silver line of the frame and continues with the belly pan (aka Bug Spoiler)

Frankly, I'm tempted to put on black headlight cowl and repaint the existing tank factory gloss "novelty black". That's one thing fun about a bike: you can change colors to suite the season of the year. I have a few headlight cowls, a dozen sets of tail plastics and the new red tank. I can mix and match colors all day. I gotta quit buying this stuff and start selling off the extras. Running out of space.

haha cool! just wondering where did you get your headlight bracket from .. im about to buy one for 40$ on ebay .

I got mine from Dennis Kirk for much less than $40. Go to their site and search for 'headlight bracket.' I have the Drag Specialties set that I bent to fit the fork tubes and headlight.

quick plain water and clean cloth wash.. chamois dry ..

... that dang cup-holder mounting position is still giving me grief though... keeps clashing with the lil pine tree air freshener!  O0

adidasguy

yea, so how are the fuzzy dice working out?

adidasguy

Put R&G exhaust protectors onto Suzi. I wish I had these when I first got her. It would have prevented scratches to the exhaust when she got knocked over.

I didn't know they made such a thing, that's kinda neat.

I've bought from R&G Racing and their speed of delivery is fast from the UK. Usually less than a week.
I've bought:
* Weighted bar end sliders
* Toe chain guards
* Frame sliders (for both E and F models)
* Muffler protectors.

All their products are excellent. Plus you get really nice silver die cut reflective R&G stickers!

You save on shipping when you buy a lot. Get your friends together and make a big order.

I have seen a couple distributors in the US. Unfortunately their prices are higher and they don't carry all the parts I needed. I found it easier and faster to order direct from them. http://www.rg-racing.com/

going to give the grime infested forest sprocket cover a good thorough cleaning :woohoo: :woohoo:  I'll take pics of it if my hands are clean enough O0

Junior got lots of attention today.
First, the belly pan and headlight cowling came off. Painting cowling factory color and belly pan came off because he's going in for a full tune up (no need to pay labor to take it off and put it back on)
Then, Junior got a new K&N air filter; new V&H exhaust; color changed to red; un-did the vasectomy (i.e,. put full, original rear fender and turn signals back on).
Still to do after the tune up and new tires: swap fuel tank with the new one, put belly pan and cowling back on; paint the Gimbel seat; put on smoked factory style turn sigals; Buddha's right side cover; new exhaust protectors (ones I had are too big for the V&H); replace front fender with candy red or gloss black one; ride a lot.

I treated mine to a £200 [$314US] dealer service, reduced from £279 ($438US) after I complained; ALOT!  :cookoo:

I have had fun on their loan bike today though. Another Yamaha MT-03 (660cc single)

Me and my '08 GS reside in Derbyshire, England.

Had my headlight replaced under warranty - rode in, handed over my key, they rode it into the service area, replaced light, put the bike back out, found me drooling in the store, handed back my key, I rode off. No paperwork to sign, nothing, all paid for by warranty. Quick. Simple. As it should be.

Problem was the top tab on 2 is spot-welded into the corresponding point on 3 in three spots (something like that). The three spot-welds had broken off and the top of the headlamp was floating/loose. Unfortunately for them, the entire assembly comes as one unit.

So technically I have'nt done it yet but I need opinions. I know I am going to the one on the right...but once I cut it, its kind of hard to go back. So I made this fairing just as a test of what I could do and never was happy with it and have been trying to improve it every since. The pic on the left is how it is...err the pic on the right is my Photo edit of what I want. Comments?
