Got Junior out of the Bike Cave. Due to rain, he hasn't been out since the December motorcycle show.
Taking him to the beach for a ride with a bunch of West Seattle peeps.
Anyone around: meeting 3:30-4 at the Starbucks on the Alki Beach.

really crappy here today. All that stuff in the distance is soooo distracting when riding.

Started this last night, will finish the service off today. Drained the oil when I got home and found the source of my oil drip... sump plug was a touch loose

Topped up the battery acid, tidied up some wiring I wasn't happy with, and swapped my auxiliary power socket for a much neater dual USB socket setup.

Today will be valve clearance checks, some threebond on the breather cover to stop the weeping even a genuine Suzuki gasket won't fix, and a once over everything else including spark plugs. Gonna drop the main jets another two sizes too seeing as the first drop in two sizes didn't seem to do anything.

If I can find some appropriate sized hose barbs, I'll replace the breather catch tank with a schmick new aluminium one to stop it weeping and making a mess too.

Then she'll get a desperately needed wash and polish.

I might be able to make it! Where are you planning on riding at rush hour on a Friday?

I'm beginning to thing everyone may be just gathering. Not really sure. I just know everyone gets there 3:30-4. Some are coming from Kent and Issaquah.

Not really related to the GS500 but I did buy a Drift Ghost helmet camera today. Will be nice for recording rides.

Went on a ride today with a bunch of guys (I think there was one gal) from Alki all the way south to 130th Ave S and Ambaum. Ride as about 15 miles. 10 of us. Only 6 stop lights/signs. No stops Alki to Lincoln park (4 miles along the water). The last 4 miles was all in-city twisties but like in the country. View of Mt Rainer, Puget sound was incredible with sun today and it was approaching sunset.

I rode Junior. He really LOVES the twisties. It was his first time on the road since the motorcycle show in December. (No tender because Shorai battery. Started right up - you know - Shorai and Brisk plugs. Time to flame me on this!)

There was 2 new riders in the group who learned a lot about group riding. One newbie hit reserve mid way through it. No problem. We all stopped for gas with him. We help new riders. "Need gas? No problem. We will stop with you."

Funny - sun came out and it was a last minute thing here with all kinds of postings on pnwriderrs.com. We all got to Starbucks. Had beverages. Then didn't know what was happening next - we just wanted to ride. Bluesmnudge and Olly (the newbie neighbor that just got a Ninja 250) stepped up and voted me as ride leader. It was fun!

Couple pictures. Weird story about the hot pink t-shirt and tassles. You had to be there.

Look! the sun was out and there were 3 - count them - 3 green Ninja 250's! :icon_eek:
My new da-glo green helmet is on Junior, who is a but hidden here.

Good to see you US fellas out in the cold! Sweatin' our butts off here, had to have the fan going in the garage tonight it was so warm.

Got the service finished today, valve clearances haven't changed, plugs good, new belly full of Castrol GTX 15w40 diesel oil, threebond on the breather cover to stop the endless weeping and tonight I got my new breather catch tank on. Didn't end up changing the main jets yet but will do so soon, and haven't receive the needle shims yet so no playing with the needles.

Nice, those are not cheap at all. But do you find it a little on the big size? How does a mic connect to it?

Sorry bro. looks like it has small pits in it. It will never polish up and look good. Im going to lay a skin of metal filler on it, sand it down and paint.

Dropped the main jets down another two sizes today and finally got a chance to get some degreaser on the engine and around where the catch tank was weeping. Didn't bother with a proper wash and polish as rain's predicted all week, but at least it doesn't have oily grunge all over the shop and I can keep an eye on it to make sure all the weeps are sorted.

No time for a test run with the different mains yet either so hopefully the commute will give me an idea.

Fitted an ebay LED tail light/indicator combo yesterday and went for a nice long group ride today.

Nice one! Out of curiousity though... is it legal? I'm wondering if they will frown at the integrated bit... although with the stock signals there you should still be legal width apart for them... I just know how anal they are up here...

That looks cool Banzai!!  :woohoo:

... But the Bronze won't like it... Even though you have orig indicators on... The latest report from a mate I have heard is that they didn't like his integrated unit either... He was testing it .. Well going for a run with another mate and they 'evaluating' the distance it was viewable/better/worse ...

Granted they got caught for also evaluating how far the front wheel could stay off the ground... So the Bronze were annoyed already ... But they stickered him for the integrated tail light..  :icon_sad: , amongst other things..  :icon_rolleyes:

However I have been told also... A straight led red tail is ok... So long as it meets the legal light levels!

Disconnecting the integrated indicators is very quick and easy. If the 5-0 take exception I can correct it on the spot.

I wasn't sure about connecting them in the first place as the LED indicators aren't that easy to see in daylight with the brake light on.

Depends on the popo and what you are doing at the time. I've had integrated ones on mine for a while now and had popo behind me when in use and not even a second look from them.
