Yeah Sonics! .. I put in .95s. . Could have gone 1.0 but it's comfortable now with minimal supersport style headlight jiggle at night time. .

Well. . I had them put in! .. couldn't be bothered and had the cash for mechanic at the time... but yes apparently it's a fairly easy swap so long as you follow the right process! Lol

I ordered a new 140/80 Battlax tire

Welcome to the 140/80 Club: our revs are slightly lower and our twitchiness is slightly higher (or maybe I need an alignment).

I just test drove my Sonic 0.85's I put in yesterday.  Man, its really a difference!  I have my suspension upgrades complete.  I'm amazed that it was a pretty easy install.   I just followed the Haynes manual and the instructions that came with the springs.  It took about 4 hours.  Well worth the effort!

I moved by bike out of the way and took the cabs off.
You don't own a project bike..
The Project bike owns you!

Brought a 5L jug of gas for her. It's -4°C here, raining on and off, wet and cold road, barely remember how our beloved Sun looks like.
Couldn't stand the thought of an empty tank though. Half of it is on my hands & the ground now, but hey, at least she got some, too :D

Ride it like a 2 stroke:

I performed the "shortened stalks on turn signal" operation detailed right here on GSTwins.   It was a smooth operation, and I'm quite pleased with the results!

Looks cool, but I can read your licence plate perfectly. Dunno if that's a problem for you, just sayin'. :dunno_black:

Got the baby inspected today.  Passed without a hitch.

Threw in about an hour ride each way just because it was a pretty day.

Put a block of wood under the front tire to keep it off the cold garage floor.

New place - garage too small for the wife's car AND the bike... Bike lost the 'coin toss'  :icon_rolleyes: - so I built a shed for her last week.  She went in yesterday all cleaned up, full tank, treated gas, removed battery, both ends with wheel stands, tire covers, and whole bike cover.  She's ready to brave the winter.  First one she's seen outside of a garage - but I think her new shed is even better!

Today for the first time in awhile i gave my bike some well deserved attention.
Tried what feels like the 22nd experimental wind screen!I'm starting to think the ideal screen would be a fine mesh!Everything i've tried gives some buffeting or noise.

Checked and cleaned the brakes both ends, then checked the rims for dings, runnout and balance.Cleaned, lubed and adjusted the chain.Checked tire pressures and engine oil.
I need to get the local bike shop to swap another front tire on.I want to try one of my brother's used michelin radials, just to see what it does to the handling

Yesterday put in the R6 rear shock.  It took a little grinding to get it to fit. But it's in there. Need to read up on adjusting it.
Tomorrow putting in the progressive front springs and new 15w oil.

I will be replacing my fork oil soon too.Its been soooo long since i did any serious testing i will need to do it all over again, haha.Guess i'll start with 15 wt and see how the rebound feels. Then i want to experiment with variable compression damping, such as offered by Emulators and Intiminators.
I'm not sure yet how to go about it,but thinking up ideas is most of the fun :-)

Friday: finally finished putting top of the head back together; tried installing R6 shock (old one out - job in stasis until linkage bolt proves more willing to leave the dogbones). Also discovered that the garage that was planned to be Pokey's refuge for winter is far more warm and damp than a steel frame probably likes...

NIGHT (or really early morning here) OF THE LIVING THREAD haha I just wanted to share that I *think* I fixed the dreaded rear brake squeal on my GS... I bought some De-Squeak Conditioning Treatment from Auto Zone and gave it a try and so far so good. I will take it for a longer ride tomorrow hopefully and see (or hear?) what happens ;)

I would be interested to know if that does fix the squeak as i want to fix that on my bike too.

I will make sure to reply with what I find out then!  I hope it works, that sound is really loud

Took the bike out and did some hard rear braking today... not a sound!  :woohoo:  Hope that squeal stays gone... even for a while yanno?  I could deal with re-applying this stuff every once in a while or after it rains or I wash the bike, etc.  Here is the link:
