I saw some advertised in a bike mag once that looked pretty cool...it was basically a vinyl wrap that was generically for a sport bike with full farings, you just trimmed to fit, so you could use as much or as little as you wanted...it was a ghost flame during the day, but at night the flames were reflective...quite unique...cool to me!!

Later.

Painted a bunch of stuff in the fender/engine area black, lopped off the stock muffler, and added a tip to the exhaust that looks good and also significantly increases my visibility at night.

Tried three auto and hardware stores this afternoon, no one has any flare nut wrenches, and I had to try and describe to a couple of people what they were.  Also known as a crowfoot spanner?  Pipe wrench?  Brake line Spanner? Still no response.  Sigh.  The guy at Auto One at least knew what I was talking about, just didn't have them in stock.

What I did do was fix my wobbly footpeg.  It tends to fold itself up as I take off from the lights, so I have to kick it back into place, then shift into second.  I took the peg off then tried to find a washer the correct size to act as a spacer.  When I couldn't find one thin enough I put a brick against the bracket and hit it with a hammer.  No more wobbles.

Please note that I had someone hold the bike while it was on the centrestand.  I wouldn't be hitting it with a hammer if there was any chance it could roll forward.

There's a thick washer at the end of the rubber peg (as seen below). Its thick with a square hole. If that's missing or the rubber of the peg is worn out, the peg can easily fold up. It would be easy to simply put on a new bracket and foot peg.

The washer was still in place and in good condition, it's actually a fairly new footpeg.  It was just the bracket that was a bit worn and out of shape, giving it a little too much play.  After an encounter with a heavy steel friend of mine, it's as good as new.

I wonder if a new footpeg on a slightly bent bracket hints at an earlier drop.

I thought about it. She is currently garaged in NJ....  Thats all i can do for now. Winter work (painting, new cables) will begin soon.

Can't think of any other way a steel part that thick can get bent. If the rubber end of the peg is not pristine, then it has been on the pavement.

Custom seats from Germany for Suzi and Junior just came in. Can't wait to put them on tonight.

Hard to tell, the stitching for the "F" is blue to match the lettering and Suzi. You have your choice of colors, lettering and lettering style. You can see the seat for Junior has red lettering and red stitching. (I have 4 seats for Junior - do I need a 3rd GS500? I did have a factory gel seat which made 5 seats. I gave that one to centuryghost. )

I ordered them from:
klaus Gottlob <be-ziehungen@online.de>

He accepts PayPal. He can ship cheap and slow or expensive and fast.

You can also find him on ebay advertising seats for the "E". I asked about the "F" and he did it. Blue lettering to match Suzi. The "E" seat has red to match Junior.

I believe he normally takes in your seat and recovers it. Since I'm in the US, that was not practical to do. He charged a few euros more and obtained a seat shell so I did not have to send him my seat.

He is a very nice person to do business with.

What can I say....more anxious than ever for my leg to heal and plant my butt here....

I really dig that seat, and the later style tank, and the dark blue.  You might have given me some ideas if I decide to keep my POS instead of just passing it onto the next learner when I get an unrestricted license.

Today, it threw a fit and decided to just start dumping more gas into the cylinder than it can burn. It now floods before it even gets going, causing it to not be able to start.

But I cleaned up some of the ghetto wiring on it, hoping to placate it. Maybe she'll be in a better mood tomorrow.
