not sure how many of these apply but they all involve my bike  8)

I picked up a Cardo Systems Scala Rider Q2 Pro Multiset and Biologic mount for my iPhone4

I'm installing my 12v socket this weekend with the intent on using my weatherproof gps and not have to worry about power.

I installed a newly aquired windscreen. Only cost me 89 bucks.

I'll have better pictures once it stops raining... :D :D

The color is slightly off, Subaru's World Rally Blue Mica is the closest I can find. I might try to mix a little white in it to lighten it up.

go to www.color-rite.com

Yep, and it's $250 a pint. This paint was $16 a pint.

89 bucks for that? seems a little over priced if you ask me...but then again no one asked me.

That sport shield costs about $100 new. I had one for sale recently... a local guy bought it. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=54855.0

BKRTIM, how do you manage to keep even the warning sticker on that old tank so clean?

mister

Last week I put a Time/Temp set onto the Honda 919 - so now both the GS500 and 919 have the same set  :woohoo:

Yes, that is about quarter past 9 in the morning and the temperature is already almost 30C (86F).

Today, however, I put a new nut onto the clutch pivot bolt on the 919. So I am looking at the clutch and the pivot bolt is sticking up almost all the way out - imagine riding somewhere and it comes out and goes bouncing down the road :o . So today I put a new nut on - cause I wasn't gonna be riding it anywhere like that - and made sure it was Extra tight. Where the original nut went I do not know. But looking at it as it was, each time I moved the clutch the bolt unwound a small small amount. So I think I may have been missing it for a while  :dunno_black: Anyway. All good to ride again, now.

Reversed the DIY ignition advance mod

I had seen reports that the mod works on later models as well as the early models so I thought I'd give it a go and found the following pros & cons

PROS

  • snappier throttle response
  • more torque under 4,000rpm
  • smoother idle

CONS

  • Absolutely gutless from 4,000rpm to redline
  • Often very difficult to start - sometimes kicked back against the starter

Would rather have the top end pull over low end response any day!

I've got a beat to shaZam! old tank that I'm going to have to either replace or seriously repair, and the only bit of it that looks brand new is the "read the owners manual and don't hit stuff" warning label.  They seem pretty tough.

I'm going to make a new warning label when I respray the tank, I'm open to suggestions on the wording.

tt_four

I won a new tank bag on ebay! it's the same bag I used to have, only blue. I forgot how much I liked tank bags, but I've been super excited since I won it, so apparently I'm more tired of my backpack than I thought.

The bike has less than 10,000 miles on it, so I'm sure that has something to do with it.  :thumb:

well lets see i called Suzuki every name under the sun  :flipoff: they dont want to pay up on there warranty.

i have large areas of metal on my bike that has no paint on it and it seems Suzuki will not warrant against rust or corrosion  even if they are at fault...

Busy wrench day. Scottychop came over and we put a Honda S4 perch with a custom clutch cable on Suzi so she now has an ASV clutch lever to match the ASV brake lever. Now I need to find a similar perch with a mirror holder for Junior and Trey (cable spec on file so I can order more custom clutch cables).

Junior got a nice ride.

Trey got new tires - he got the new tires on the silver rims that were going to be put on Suzi. Suzi is OK since she got the clutch lever. The silver rims do look good with the silver frame so I put on a stainless steel chain guard on Trey to complete the silver look.

Here's a picture of the ASV clutch lever with custom cable and Honda S4 perch. I still need to get the correct rubber boot (used the Suzuki boot cover)
The cable is like a GS500 clutch cable but has a 90 degree bend rather than 45 degrees at the perch. Only $40. Worth it. Rode 15 miles today and works perfect. The feel of the clutch is ideal (thanks to scottychop for helping) Note factory clip ons, stem clock and R&G bar ends. Makes for one hot looking 2009 GS500F. OK, yea, side marker lights and the button for the Denali fog lights ( for those that notice details.)

We're having a West Seattle wrench session next week so we'll be trying a few more options. Then we will post the results and tell you what to order and where.
But it is so cool to finally have an ASV clutch lever to match the brake lever! Bikes really do care if the levers don't match. Just ask you bike  :icon_question:

Mine are the shorty versions. Impressed with them so far and look 10x better than OEM.

I added the custom clutch to the prior post. Here is the brake lever. The brake is stock and easy to do. The clutch has the problem of that god awful 45 degree angle which makes it totally incompatible with the universe. Therefore you need a substitute clutch lever and custom cable. Please wait a week before we post the optimum clutch solution. We're experimenting with stock and clip on bars plus a couple different perches. The cable is on file with custom cables and we'll tell you the code to order it (I forget right now, it's late, wine, oxycodine for my achilles tendon surgery,  been watching 3 Stooges, mind is gone...  you understand...)

ASV brake lever is BRC-520K (you can get a shorty if you want) and is a direct replacement with no modifications required (whether stock bars or factory clip ons)

You bike looks good. Feel free to call me an old geezer or whatever - I just prefer the longer levers.

Twisted

Oh if I had the choice I would have got the longer ones too but these came up dirt cheap on eBay and I couldn't pass them up. But now they're on and I have been on a few rides I don't mind the shortys. Braking is easier but the clutch is a lil harder to use in traffic.
