Q:Why did they decide to call it the "Harley Owners Group?"
A:Because the term "Special Ed" was already taken.

Replaced a missing front fender plate screw and front brake hose hanger that were MIA. Next will be the hi beam bulb. I know, I know I need to do the LED upgrade.   :technical:

Picked up the bike from the mechanic who put in two new fork seals with 15 weight oil instead of the 10 weight it comes with, and he also affixed my Buddha Fork Brace, saving me the hassle of doing it. He put the old black brace back on top at my request.

Results: Far more stable / grounded cornering. No front end dip under braking. Nice  :thumb: And I'd say it's a little of both changes that made it so.

Michael

Michael, are you still running stock springs and preload adjusters?  No shims in the top of the fork?

Used an ear plug to plug a hole leaking oil.

And if you need it for your ear it will be within easy reach!

:icon_eek: Won't that melt in there? Can't be that hard to find a bolt to fit until you get a proper one?

LOL should you put a bolt in there instead? :P take one of the other ones out and take it to your local DIY shop to get a suitable alternative for the other hole, it will cost pennies!

can i ask how it went missing in the first place? :P

I was at the second fuel stop of a 700km ride. Someone noted an oil smear down the case. I crouched over went F*^%! where is the bolt, look in the hole and could just see some of it in there. Its snapped off. Good only knows how. All I can think off was when I took the frame sliders off I must have over tightened it and with heat expansion it went by by.

If half the bolt hadn't been in there I would have taken one of the front sprocket cover and put it in there but alas no luck. So an ear plug was used. And it hasn't melted. Mind you it wasn't leaking much, so I wasn't entirely worried about it.

The bolt will be replaced this week. Just have to take the whole cover off to get easy access to what is left of the bolt so I don't have to use easy outs etc. Much easier to take cover off grab it with some vice grips and take it out like a normal bolt. Thread stays nice etc.

Totally stock forks. Nothing done to them since new, other than a previous oil change probably 20,000km ago. No added anything. No changed anything. Just OEM from the factory and now with 15 weight oil in them.

Who does your work?

Normally, I use a mechanic in Carina. Ozzy is his name, this is his website http://www.ozracing.biz and I cannot praise his work high enough. When the local BMW Dealer's mechanics cannot figure out how to work on a bike for some reason, they call this guy. He, himself, does not do forks. He sends forks away to a guy in South Australia who rebuilds the forks specifically to your riding weight. So if you weight 90kg and with riding gear on, tank bag etc.,  weight 95kg, then your forks will be rebuilt to suit a 95kg rider.

This time, however, I used Pro at Ippy cause I didn't need the forks fine-tuned to such an extent as I now mainly use the bike for commuting and such fine tuning is not that necessary for a run up the Ippy M'way. In this case, I asked Ash to put in 15 weight oil and we'll see how that works out. And I'm pleased with the results.  :thumb:

Ozzy can do tyres, but he suggests you buy the tyres yourself from the USA (buy a front and rear - cheaper to buy the set than just one and only bring in what you need fitted) and bring the tyres to him for fitting - he's not a tyre guy so doesn't keep stock and the price he gets from the local tyre supplier is not  as good as you can get them for yourself from the USA. And if you think that's too much hassle, or you cannot wait, he suggests Two Wheels out at Blacksoil behind the inbound BP http://www.twowheeltyres.com.au - they've done my last three tyre changes and are cheaper than Pro ($60 cheaper for my last tyre on my 919).

He can also test your frame for straightness and make sure your forks are aligned correctly and other magical stuff.

Ozzy goes riding every weekend. So if you wanted to meet him and just ask a few innocent questions in an informal setting - and even speak to others who get their bikes serviced by him - then go on one of his rides. But be prepared to get left behind cause they do not dilly daddle.  :icon_mrgreen:

Changed pivot point of brake lever on Raask rear set on Trey. I felt the brake lever travel was too much and looking at the lever and pivot points, I don't think I have to remind you of your high school physics class and the week you spent on levers. Works much better now.
However, I think I prefer the Gimbel rear sets even though they are a little farther back.

Before:

New hole drilled, going to tap it for the bolt rather than using the sleeve as before. Put nut on back as extra security so bolt won't work itself out.

All done. Brake lever travel is more like OEM lever travel. More sensitive, better feel. Study the photos - remember your class on levers - you'll know what I mean and why I did it.

Changed the oil. First oil change at 700 miles, and it's a 2007 bike. There were quite a number of little metallic flakes in the filter housing, but thankfully that means the filter did it's job and kept them from circulating the engine!

Added an Iphone 4 Holder to Exodia

it is pretty sturdy and it holds.

i've ridin it around 90mph and everything is holding

here are pics:

i put an extra protection incase the mounting brackets gives in, so i put a metal necklace and tied it around the Plastic
holder and around the handle bar
