Got my red LEDs for the speedo and tach today. I'll be putting them in tonight, I'll post pics after :D

ForcedFour

After putting LEDs in the my gauges and turn signals next up was the brake light. I didn't like the way the red rectangle we have on the back clashed with the angles of the bike's tail either.

Solution: cut and drill

I maaaay have had a slight slip of the hand and over voltaged 4 of the LEDs resulting in their death.

These are the LEDs I'm using:

I will be using 2 LD1084V regulators to control voltages going in. These LEDs pull quite a bit of current and will most likely burn up your usual LM317 regulator.  I may at a later date redo the electronics to use PWM but for now running them at a lower voltage should dim them enough. At full power they are as bright as a camera flash.

Sold it. Winter's coming around and I want to get a larger newer bike in the spring. Hope the new owner treats it well and enjoys it as much as I did. Thanks for all your help GSTwins, I'll still be on from time to time.

I'm curious.  Care to post your circuit diagram?  Your LEDs appear to be in two parallel branches, so current should only be 1.5A.  One LD1084 should be plenty (5A).  An LM317 would work, though maybe not reliably and the TO-3 package is pretty old school.  LED brightness is usually controlled by current or PWM, not voltage.  How do you dim the LEDs for running (no brake)?

Added R&G sliders to my GS500 F 0.5

BTW, these were the "for faired" sliders, not the naked bike sliders. Figured i should be prepared in case I ever re-fair the thing.

Just spent nearly $800 so it could legally ride on the roads, so it better be damn nice to me for the next few months.

Checked & oiled chain, checked oil and tires (tyres for those outside the USA) then took Suzi for a ferry ride to Vashon Island for a couple hours of riding the island twisties. Probably one of the last nice weekends this year and she really enjoyed it.

Riding the island is fun. You can't get lost - its a small island. The fun part? getting LOST! Follow signs and see where the roads go. Like I said, island riding is fun because you really can't get lost unless you fall into the ocean. Had a map so once in a while I looked at it and went "So this is where I'm at! How did I get here?"

Suzi really enjoyed the day on the island  :thumb:

Stevo - any Saturday or Sunday. Just PM me and we can do a ride or just sniff corks. :woohoo:
I really enjoyed easy, slow riding on unknown roads full of hairpins with slippery moss and wet leaves. I can't recall when I've really enjoyed just easy riding so much. (No knee dragging, no pushing to the limits - just nice, easy, enjoyable riding!) If you want to enjoy the scenery, you can't ride to the limits. You've got to take your time to smell the roses (and that llama ranch   or was it elpackas or something else?)

Heck, for $7.20 and I'm a few minutes from the ferry terminal, now I know what to do on a weekend when I want to go ride.

Love your avatar. I like cats, too
