Well, what I did Yesterday.

Repainted the entire top end of the engine, the exhaust pipe, and visual areas of the frame.

Changed the oil, filter, & plugs.

Then added 2 24 inch blue LED strips to the inside of the frame from near the rear shock area to about next to the carbs.

pics can be seen at the bottom of the page here.

On the ride home, discovered my tachometer wasn't working.  The cable had simply vibrated loose and fallen out of the housing.  So, in the 100 degree comfort of my garage, I removed my windshield, which required removing the headlight, returned the tach cable to its rightful place, replaced the worn rubber washers holding the windshield brackets, put the headlight back in and toweled off.  It felt good to do such a simple repair and have it work. Yea!

Where did you get the reflective strips? Linky?

Excellent! I've seen them on eBay, but hadn't seen anything good/bad about them. How would you rate them and the install? They look great in the pics!

They weren't too bad to work with.  I could have been a little more careful and they would have probably looked better.  A few little imperfections, but nothing bad unless you look closely.

'05 GSXR rear sets on adapter plates. FINALLY I got them right after 3 tries. 2" back and 1" up from stock. And it clears the centre stand! :D Plates are made from 10mm aluminium.

It's cold and raining here in Adelaide Australia so the test ride has to wait.
I did have Gimbal rear sets fitted fitted before but found the position of 4" back and 2" up too aggressive for the street.
Sitting on the bike it feels great, much more comfortable for my 6'2" hight with the Suburban Machinery sv650 bars.

Those rear sets look nice kind of what I'm looking for.

As far as what I did to my bike meh nothing but some annoyance and anger. After I get home I went to adjust my idle a bit since the idle has been hanging a bit. Go to put it on the side stand and wouldn't you know I forgot it was up. Eased the bike onto it's side the best I could and picked it right back up.

Long story short the clutch lever was broken and so while trying to get the broken pieces off so I can get a new one tomorrow and repair it. Trying to get the lever itself off I somehow managed to break the threaded hole on the perch in half. So now I need another clutch perch and lever :/ Not a great ending to this night lol
:)

Wow, nice!

you should do a more detailed writeup, such as:

1. ANY other mods/machining/whathaveyou, other than putting the plates between the gsxr stuff and the gs500?

2. any other required parts?

3. How people can get some from you ;)

The only other part required is an extended gear shift linkage. The GSXR one is too short.
My local bike wrecker/breaker was kind enough to let me rummage through their parts till I found one. I also needed some LH and RH M6 stainless threaded rod to suit the linkage. Other than that it all bolts up with no mods :)

I have a rough drawing on paper, I'll re-do it and post it up for others to copy if they wish :)

I haven't, but I have seen the previews and stuff.  I realized the yesterday that it looks tronish when light reflects off of it.  I'll go with it.  Doesn't seem like a bad look.

Finally got around to repainting and installing my 89 clip-ons. Click images below to enlarge.

Part way through the install. Old bits have been removed, new top plate and bar holders installed and torqued:

Almost done:

All ready for a test ride:

Just back from the test ride:

I gotta say, I can't believe how much better it seems to handle with the clip-ons. I wish I had got around to installing them sooner.

Zero Gravity Double Bubble!

Install was somewhat easy but I couldn't seem to get the front bolt that tight. The bottom of the screen is slightly out some.

I just installed a 2006 R6 shock. I don't recall if this was in any posts, but if you have the California model , it won't fit with the charcoal canister. I had to remove the mounting bracket and turn the canister 90 degrees. I used some zip ties to hold it in place. I also tried again to install new rear brake line, but I only managed to round the banjo bolt on the master cylinder. At least, the front has braided brake line. Anyway, I have lurked on this site quite awhile and just wanted to thank everyone for their expertise and entertainment. I am a new rider and mechanic. I have been enjoying both. I have those tron rim stripes as well.
