A ratchet strapped tank?

Yep. I hate random noises/rattles. Also don't care much how the bike looks so long as it's in good mechanical condition. Replaced all the rubber parts and it still rattles. So why not?
(And yes, I put on the strip that runs around the outside. I took it off since it didn't help and was a nuisance when removing the tank)

Calpantera

Took her out for a ride this morning at about 10am, temps were low 70s. I went on one of my favorite local runs, through some canyons and then some avacado and orange groves. Was a GREAT cruise, only had one cage in front of me at the beginning of the ride, as soon as I passed him I came up on Johnny Law waiting for a sucker. Good thing I dropped back down to a decent speed before I came up on him. Orange trees smelled great and SoCal valley was all abloom, real pretty ride!

Follow the path of least acceptance!

Primer painted all my pieces for my GSXR1100 reat sets. Ordered new front pegs to match the rear pegs. Broke down the front end and took off my old clip ons and started putting on the new 89 clips ons I painted and clear coated last week. Still have to raise the front end back up. Ordered a new fuel tank petcock, bolts, o-rings and gaskets for my second tank. I think I got my Bandit 600 rear hugger situated. I wont know for sure until I get my Bandit rear brake arm back on but the calipers still have to be painted.

I have A LOT of work to do and only a month left. UGH

finally changed the oil and lucky for me i did. After pulling the fairing and laying on my side to remove the drain plug i noticed a lose plate on side of engine... The 2 phillips screws where almost all the way out, so plate was ready to drop off at anytime  :icon_eek: I thought i was hearing something rattling the last few times i was able to ride it, but put it off as normal GS for some reason.

fixed cracked fairing.

That is normal for a GS. It will undo bolts and screws and eject them from your bike always leaving you guessing where the next one is.  :thumb:

Checked the tyre pressure.  ;)

Big day on the tools for you then?  ;)

That's ok, I'm a huge fan of lock tight and have plenty of it to go around  ;)

I am not interested in anything you have to say
Don't bother talking to me, I will not answer you

Pulled the front and rear calipers and prepped them for paint. Also took my spare rotors and bead blasted the paint off and primer painted them. Got my 89 top clamp on but found the OEM 89 bars are too short for my controls and grips so I ordered new 7/8 bars. Also ordered new grips and bar links. I got my rear sets, rear hub and sprocket also primered. Engine and rear fairings are sanded down ready for primer. Front fairing will get sanded tomorrow.

Yeah they were two separate bars clamped to the fork. Looked something like this:

Interesting. The first photo makes them look like they are mounted above the triple. Did you find the position too aggressive?

I am just starting riding for the first time, just passed the MSF's BRC this past weekend so i wanted something a bit more upright to start out with.  I'm holding on the the clip-ons for now, maybe sometime down the road they will find themselves back on the bike.

Well, this was yesterday so I do not know if I should get a slap on the wrist, hand cut off, banished from the forum, or what for posting in the "What have you done for your bike today????" thread. Any who, I took it for a nice little ride to and through Point Defiance Zoo in Washington with my brother and his Kawasaki Spectre 1100. It's a really awesome ride with amazing views.

I am into buying bikes that people have given up on and fixing them up!

RIP Patrick Lajko, I miss you man.

Good idea. When you are more comfortable with the bike you will notice the clip ons will give you a more natural wrist position especially for twisty roads.

My new Philips headlight made the little parking light look yellow and old.

So I ordered a 5 Led replacement, installed it.

Now my new parking light makes my headlight look yellow and old  :2guns:

After working this winter to prep my GS500 for the track, including getting all mechanical pieces checked and put within tolerance and re-springing the front with Race-tech springs and the rear with an SV650 shock, I rendered all my work for naught.

Found a great deal on a SV650 track prepped bike locally.  This means i'll strip the 500 back to stock form and sell the bike and the parts.  Have too many bikes in the garage to justify keeping the 500.

She and I had a good run.  I'm sure i'll regret it if/when I move it on to the next rider.
