What have you done for your bike today????

Changed the oil and changed the gasket on the stator cover. Boy was that thing a true PITA. The entire gasket stuck on the case and took 9 hours (yes it was my first time) to completely scrape/clean up and get the new gasket in place and set. Started yesterday. Probably could've went faster but I don't like to rush and mess things up. Patience is a virtue or something. Successfully changed the (original, I believe) filter and oil. The guys at the local bike shop sold me some Honda 10w-40 and a KN Filter. I was nervous about the studs on the filter cover but you'd really have lean on those things to break em off (working in a machine shop has probably given me a pretty good feel of snug, tight, too tight).  As I was mopping up the spilled oil (forgot to stick the clutch cantilever pin back in before the test start, D'oh  :technical: ) the rain rolled in and I missed my chance for a test ride. Second test fire seemed all good. Besides the small oil leak I noticed coming from the valve cover. Shiza! It never ends! Thursday I will get her our and actually run it hard to verify no other leaks, but seems good so far.

Next up: Delkevic mini muffler and perhaps a lunchbox. Which will of course require my first bit of carb work! I am pretty excited to get into em and give em a real cleaning rather than just dumping endless Seafoam into the tank. And a tiny little eyebrow type fairing (like dBs monster fairing) to try and hide the gauge pods. Oh and that valve cover leak (and a shim check while I'm in there.)

Whatevaman, I am surprised that thing didn't break off. My GS fell off the kickstand last summer and there was no bending...just a pop and 2 pieces of clutch lever.

Found my next bike over the weekend. Picking it up in a month--it just so happens that the seller will be out of town until May, then I'll be out of town the first weekend of May. Definitely a nice upgrade from a GS500.

Where did you get the lights for the speedometer and tachometer and how did you change them out?

Charged the battery, got the cover off, looked her over, and fired her up.  Stumbly at first, but once warmed up, she became the same old reliable comforting baby she was when I put her away.

She was as happy as I was once out of the garage and into the fresh air.  I think we are going to get along just great again this season.

All that wind in your face, being one with the elements, and clear/no cage feeling, is like being reborn again.  Can't wait until we get our tops off.

Now officially part of the Chuck81 fork brace crew. Don't know if it's the brace or because my brace bolts were loose, but it feels like a different bike.

Added swing arm spools to the Wee.
Put on ASV levers. Same brake as the GS. I had the clutch lever in my pile of levers and perches. It pays to hoard parts.

Fixed the little ticking noise I had. Seems that a valve shim decided that it needed a break. after a couple of hours of poking, prodding, and praying I finally snatched last puzzle piece.

Installed AltRider crash protection on the Wee.
Crash bars, sliders and bash plate. Really well made stuff.
Cool that they are local and near my dealer here in Seattle.

They were in the display case marked "illegal gravel damage prevention devices." So, of course, Adidasguy had to have them. :D

Wow, I've never seen that before.  Surprised the shim broke before something else - those are pretty darn hard!

Side note: Another wow... That wiring harness... looks... uh... 'daunting'

Never saw one that way either in 180k GS miles but that doesn't look like an oem shim.  Never tried too see if oem shims are full hardened or case hardened?  Anyway, I've never even seen shim wear in many many miles checking them all over with a mike every time I've removed one.  OEM shims are probably a bargain in the long run.

Sold my GS! hope she is as good to her new owner as she was to me.

Idk how it happened either! Tore it down and was  peaking around and am like WTF!  I would like to know if that's happened to anyone else. The wiring  still needs tiding up. Oem harness along with heated grips heated mirrors heated seats heated visor and troller. All are wired directly through oem ignition on.
