Soooo, I did a rejet. Don't have the numbers with me ATM bike runs wonderful don't have to sit and warm up forever in 95 degree weather now. BTW stock everything. Buddha would know the jets and pilots cause he sent them to me for B-day present.

Here is what happenes after bout 30mins of riding the idle starts sticking at 3500rpm at red lights.

I took the tops off the carbs and made sure the slides were ok. did a bit of cleaning there was a bit of soot on the black things that holds the needles but not too much. The right diaphraghm was pinched just a wee bit but I fixed that. But, it is still doing it.

Any help would be nice!

maybe just readjust idle? bigger jets are allowing more fuel, so your previously set idle is actually allowing more fuel than your stock jets.

if it's a hanging idle, maybe check to see if any of the rubber boots cracked while you were replacing everything?

it does kinda sound like a vacuum leak, could also be sticking choke.

I'll try to adjust the idle see if that works. Seemed a bit better today.

Does it slowly come down to a normal idle or does it hang there.... Next time it slip the clutch til you stop --enough to keep the engine running  when you stop but still slow the rpms down then pull the clutch in all the way...see what the rpms do then.

Hanging idle is usually a vacuum leak as was already said....

Sounds to me like you need to adjust mixture screws prob` half turn each.

Jared your right on the money as to what it is doing! I can slip the clutch out a smidge and it will come down.

Why would this vacuum leak pop up all of a sudden after the change out? Did I do something wrong?

i would say get some wd40 and spray around the rubber boots. if there's a vacuum leak, the idle will change when the cracks/holes are temporarily plugged by the wd40.

how are your valve clearances? i found that had a big effect on the idling characteristics of another bike i had

Mary,

You had a vacum leak when we met up.  It sounds like it got more noticeable after the change.  Chase it down with the wd40.

You never mentioned that to me slacker!Or I was just too full on Red Lobster to care LOL!

It is odd but today it didn't do it at all! Ran about four hours today and no problem whatsoever!

I have not tackled the valve clearances as of yet. TBH they do intimidate me a little.
