If it ends up coming down the New England Highway I would be happy to meet up and help this worthy cause.
Where are you based?

Un is based in Tamworth - a bit over 450kms away depending.

I just did a quick check. Roughly, half way between the two is a small place called Tyringham. A "locality" more so. But, there are like a half dozen homes there. And, according to Google Map - see here http://tinyurl.com/333439x - there is a BP servo (kinda of a servo and general store). I just did a bit of a search and got a number for the store (02) 6657 8164 and a quick call showed they still sell petrol and the old BP sign is still there (see Google map for close up pic)

Thanks for the research Michael!
What do you reckon 'uninhibited', meet you in Tyringham?

Clancy

So good to see this up and running.

Thought it was a good idea at the time but thought it may get thrown in the too hard basket.

Trust Auzzie gsTwinners to get shaZam! done.

Just to reiterate what i said in my opening thread: I'm good for wollongong to tassie, lap of tassie then back to Melbourne. leaving start of feb. If anyone wants to come for any leg with me and the Mrs (who just got as sv650) your more than welcome.

Awesome work so far lads :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Sounds good to me.  I am booked solid for the next couple of weeks, then (until the missus finds out) I am pretty light on (barring work) for the run up to christmas.

Sundays work best for me, let me know a proposed date and we'll take it from there. You can email me at <david.julian57@yahoo.com.au>, or phone 0419233025 or 0266859038.
Cheers, David.

One thing that made me lol on this ride was the symphony of squeally rear brakes as we pulled up to intersections.

You definitley knew they were GS's.  :thumb:

Clancy

my rear breaks are silent and have been for 15,000kms.... Maybe im not using them hard enough

OK, have just exchanged emails with Uninhibited and it looks like we're going to Tyringham on the 31st! The more direct route from Grafton to Tyringham via Nymboida looks like a good bike road with plenty of corners, but on the return I'm going to HAVE to go to Grafton through Dorrigo and Coramba, then north to Glenreagh. Get on Google Earth and check the road between Dorrigo and Coramba.....it looks INSANE. It is 58km, and the straight-line distance is 30km, the longest straight is 1.2km!!! Some of the corners look like first gear only!
 :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Mister, Twisted, David, if you guys are up for it you could come down to my place on Saturday, stay the night and come along...looks like a real adventure.

I just had a quick look with Google Maps Street View. I saw DIRT! :o Looks like it turns to dirt near Megan and comes good near Ulong - around 20kms of dirt. Of course, that was when the Sat image and street view were taken. Some things might be different now.

I would not count on it though. It is in nsw after all :dunno_black:
2005 GS500F
0.95 Sonic springs front
07 Yamaha R6 rear shock
Stainless steel brake lines
Diablo Rosso II Tyres
89 handle bars front forks
Airbrush hugger
rear fender removed completely

Good call Michael, i didn't look at street view, assuming they wouldn't have been down there. I'm sure nothing would have changed. Funny thing is my GPS always asks if I want to avoid 'unmade roads' and when I planned this route it didn't come up. Anyway, I don't mind riding a good dirt road, and we don't have to go that way if we don't want to.

And here I was thinking that mine would stop squealling after they had been properly run in...Obviously not!

I think it is a lucky dip.

I'd be happy to help out between Tamworth and Wollongong.....

Great! :thumb:

We were hoping to get it to Tamworth on Sunday, but it looks like it'll be wet so we will probably have to re-schedule.

Ross, if you're on here could you text me your phone no? I can't access my email tonight and that's where your number is! (0419233025)

Miraz

No problem, quite fancy a run up Thunderbolt's Way....seems like a good excuse.

mister

Miraz,

We need to get it to Sydney and to Bathurst too, before getting it further south. The Shadow is in Newcastle and will probably get the next leg - or one of the other riders around there, cause there are a few - from Tam to Syd. Then we'll see how to get it to Bathurst for Bubba's trip around My Panorama. And we have some riders around Austinmere, Thirroul, etc. BUT, thre is no reason more than one person cannot ride on a leg with another.

That's why I offered such a large area, Bathhurst is a good day trip too...

uninhibited

I have been in touch with David this morning and at this stage the ride is going ahead tomorrow.

All the forecasts say the same thing with their being a very high probability of minor rainfall in the afternoon.

So unless anything else unthought of occurs we should be right.

Cool!

Love to see a pic of the Baton with the servo's BP Shield in the background.
