Hello one and all.  I have recently bought a 1992 GS500E as a project bike.

I paid $300 for the bike and it actually runs.  When I first brought the bike home it was running on only one cylinder.  A coil off of E-bay took care of that and now she runs great.  I also had a broken front brake lever and once again E-bay came to the rescue and I now have new black carbon levers.  I've taken the side panels off and started working on a new paint scheme.  In the pictures below you will see the base color.  I'm painting this deep red on and than will do my lettering and than paint with a black metal flake.  The lettering will come through in the deep red shown below.

The next thing I need is a new set of bars being as these are bent.  I do want black bars but haven't decided on the rise and pull back.  It appears that the ones on there have 1-1/2" rise and about 5-6" of pullback.  I'm not sure what the best combination will be for me.

Okay here are the pictures.

I saw the first picture before reading the text and I was like "I hope they didn't pay much for it".

$300 is a nice deal, you can clean that up nicely and be on your way.  I like the color.

Good find!

I don't know anything about anything.  Follow suggestions found on the internet at your own risk.

Need more stuff in your work area. I saw some empty space - it needs filling (if there's room for a person to stand there is room for stuff)  :thumb: :icon_mrgreen:

Those first pictures are from the guy's garage where I bought the bike.  But fear not, my workshop is about as packed.  In addition to the bike I have my canoe I'm building.

I'm an old hand at forums.  I've been a member of the Wooden Boat Forum for longer than I care to remember.  Do we have any spelling Nazis here?

If you can find a forum that doesn't have at least one hiding around, then more power to you. :D
I like a non-sequitur as much as the next Giraffe.

I'm a spelling nazi but I don't post about it, I just quietly seethe at home. :cookoo:  :dunno_black:

O&E sounds a lot like the Bilge over at Wooden Boat.  It might be better for my mental health to stay out of there. LOL
