Hi all,

The starter on my 2004 GS500F died.  Does anyone know if a starter from a 2007 will fit?

Thanks.

Before you assume its the starter (more likely a safety switch/solenoid) disconnect the live off starter, disconnect live from batt` use a jump lead from batt` live to starter motor live.If it cranks you know starter is good.(make sure its not in gear).
89 GS5,Squire sidecar,risers,Skidmarx bellypan,R1 oval can race can baffled,96 forks,beefy kwak shock,heated grips,scotoiler.LED Clocks.

Starter motor failure is very rare, its usually the solenoid that lets go. Are you sure its actually the motor and the fault is not down to the fact its not seeing any volts? I would be checking out the solenoid and the various connections involved and ruling these out before anything else.

i've heard a gs with the starter/connection stuck and the starter ran for minutes. minutes. it's a very tough little bugger of a wind up thinger.
