No Power To My GS

Hey guys.My GS has no power running to it at all.It's like having no battery in it.I did however put a brand new battery in yesterday,and still the same result.Replaced the fuse aswell.It seems like something has been short circuited or something has been cooked that is preventing the power getting to the GS to start.Could it be a relay,the fuse holder,something as simple as that or could it be something worse?I've even clutched started the GS with the old and the  new battery and no luck.It was backfiring,spitting and spatting and eventually stopped.Does anyone out there have any idea what it could be.Help is appreciated.

Do you have lights/horn?

Do you have a Park option on the ignition and will the lights come on when turned to park?

Did you put the battery in correctly?

Kill switch?

I'd have to say wither your wires are corroded up or you have a short some were.is there green or white build up on the wires leading of the battery?

chances are it wouldn't start at all then although corrosion in it could cause some issues.  but I doubt it's the ignitions switch.

The GS5 has a habit of misfiring/dropping a cylinder/rough running as a result of poor grounds. Before anything else check out the battery negative terminal, the black one. The lug has two cables going into it, a thick one and a thin one. The thin cable can easily break off or become loose when the battery is removed without being noticed so make sure its clean and tight in the lug. Also check the spade connector situated a couple of inches along the thin cable and make sure this to is clean and tight and that the connection point at the other end of the heavy black cable is clean and tight.

I am helping a friend who has this same problem on an 07gs checked the wiring from the battery and the spade. No luck any other suggestions or a wiring path to follow for a voltage drop test? Thanks for your help on advance

The fuse you replaced may have been the spare. The real fuse is under the rubber cover.

You need a starting point, assuming the fuse is ok...start by pulling the headlight out of the bowl. Find the multiplug from the ignition switch, 4 wires red orange grey and brown and seperate the two halves. Get your meter out and you should be seeing 12 volt between the red on the half from the loom and ground. Reconnect the plug and with the ignition turned on and you should be seeing 12v across the orange wire and ground.

Try it and come back with the results.

There is a spare that is easy to get at. The fuse in use is covered and harder to get at.
Nothing like a Haynes or Clymer book.
Also there are places with the wiring diagram posted. That combined with a volt meter should let you get it going.
