I was talking to a dealer north of Toronto today who says they're selling off new 2010 GS 500F's for $3995 plus tax.  He says Suzuki isn't going to make them any more so they're just selling off what they have left.  I can't believe this price.  I know the dealer and have no reason to think they're making this up (I bought my bike there) and they have an ad in the local Auto Trader showing that price.  Has anyone heard that the GS is being discontinued and being blown out by Suzuki?

There were stories floating around here in the US because the 2009 was the last model available. And guess what? You have 2010 models! So does Europe (both naked and fared!) We've had the same sale price here so I just see it as a sale. Sometimes Suzuki has skipped a year and other times it has been mostly color changes.

My dealers don't have anything to say. They don't know what's coming out because of the slow economy. One site had new 2011 models shown and there weren't many. So I think it is just a year being skipped, as with many other models.

If saying they're stopping them is a reason for a sale - pretty poor reason. The $4k price is also pretty common for the GS500 and also for the Ninja 500.

If they do discontinue it, I think they will have a nearly identical replacement with up to date instruments. The antiquated instruments are the only outdated feature. Or they will do a change like going from 200 to 2001 models. Maybe they'll change the clutch lever so we can finally put high quality levers there.

ya bought my 2009 for that price (plus tax title and registration) oh ... about 2 months ago now brand new, 1.5 miles on the gauge ^_^

I'd think that the GS500 is a cash-cow for Suzuki..  :dunno_black:

Well, you know everything is more expensive in Canada!  List is $7400 up here and I paid $5300 for my '09 new and that was considered an outrageous deal at the time.  $3995 is the price of a scooter up here!

suzuki.com in USA shows 2011 for $4300. $3900 for leftover 2010 at tail end of riding season is OK. I saw ninja 500 for $3700 new down in Mass.

What's a link to see the 2011? All I can find is the 2009. Only the Hayabusa for 2011 in sport bikes at suzuki.com

That's a fantastic price for a new bike with warranty. Fantazing about taking a trip to NY, buying a GS, riding across the US and sticking the bike on a ship home to Oz. Wld be almost a "free"  holiday compared to the $8k for a GS here i Oz - particularly with the $A being as strong as it is againt the $US.
Wonder if Spain is bit of an expensive place for Suzuki to be bundling up the GS these days?

Story I heard was that they over built and overstocked GS500 in USA for 09........(and 08)   the economy tanked and nobody bought bikes like they did two or three years earlier.........so they did not import any '10 GS500.......they are out in other countries..........No plan to drop the model altogether though.........

I bought my 09 in June this year..........$4295 INCLUDING dealer prep, destination etc........

Does that $3995 include these typical dealer add-on charges?

Anyway, either price is fantastic for the GS500...........Bike is worth far more IMHO.......

When I saw the sale price I jumped at it....traded in my old Honda Rebel, and got the GS500..........Glad I did........

I just LOVE the GS............perfect bike for me.........mostly for commuting (good gas mileage, about 60 to 65 mpg) but great fun to ride too.

over 8000 miles in less than 4 months!!!

I started commuting at the start of last week on mine I am actually getting pretty "bad" gas millage in comparison about 46 mpg ... about half of my 25 miles 1 way is stop and go traffic and when i get going I may be a little hard on the throttle...

Oh and by bad i mean in comparison to the 60 sticker mpg its supposed to get,  considering I think my poor s-10 gets 18 mpg, the bike is still paying for itself =P

Yep, $3995 inlcudes everything but sales tax (13% in Ontario) and licence.  You'd have to pay another 3 or 4K to get into a GSX 650F up here.  I still see dealers asking $5995 for GS 500F's.

johnny ro

OK I misread site. 2011 page has no 500F.

Doesn't surprise me - There was a run on motorcycles during the gas panic a few years ago, so I'd expect Suzuki would step up production to meet the anticipated demand. Demand fizzled a bit when gas prices dropped, then tanked with the economy.

As for the GS 500 going away? Tough to say. I wouldn't be surprised to see an update or replacement, but I'd be shocked if it just dropped off entirely - the gap between the TU250 and the GSX650F is just too big to leave empty.

yeah i got mine 2 weeks ago for 3999.  great deal for a new bike! no complaints here

I wonder how many people that start on on GS500's later buy another suzuki like a gixxer, SV, or VStrom?  That could be reason enough to make sure low priced suzukis are still around.

Personally if I upgrade I plan to, to the GSX-F ^_^ because I like the look and the colors, so if I go up, thats what I am getting

That certainly is cheap, I dont know how they would make money, what is the name of the dealer who has this deal going on?  This is one of the cheapest I could find; found another small bike store selling F's for $4799...but thats as low as Ive seen in Ontario.  Still a bargain for a new bike with full warranty.
