I need to sell my 1992 GS500 but not sure what to ask for it. Any opinions would be appreciated.
The Good:
- runs great with 20,000 miles
- new chain
- new break pads
- progressive springs

The Bad
- gauges are jumpy
- gauge pod cracked
- rear brake squeaks
- crap paint job
- right front fork is bent and was such when I bought the bike two years ago

Well before anyone steals it from you.. you have a very rare "Targa" scoop like I do. Um hiccup "Priceless!" As far as the rest of the bike.. let us go down the list..

- runs great with 20,000 miles(don't know for sure but it's nearing the end depending on the maintenence done)
- new chain (Cool)
- new break pads (Cool)
- progressive springs (I am assuming you upgraded to an SV or a GSX shock..Good but not a selling point)

The Bad
- gauges are jumpy (Don't get this unless they are digital, analog is a cable...?)
- gauge pod cracked (cheap replacement)
- rear brake squeaks (Pisses me off but very common, I use 99.9% front brake always)
- crap paint job (Fair enough..Rattle cans cost 5$ and clear coat the same no worries)
- right front fork is bent and was such when I bought the bike two years ago (WTF and you have been riding it? does it pull to one side? HTF does a fork get bent with out other damage?)

Twisted

I think a lot of the GS's have the stock standard squealy brake. I know mine came with it. I like you lights. What type are they? I have the dominator set.

FYI People are paying 300$ for aftermarket crap scoops that look like sh1t..So your Targa scoop I'd say to the right buyer is worth more then that if you have the 1/4 fairing I'm thinking 500$ alone...

phase17

So should I sell the scoop separately? I can't believe someone would pay more than $40 dollars for that thing.

I can't remember what the lights are called. They are listed on the wiki under dual headlights. There's a few other posts of people using them as well.

Um are you "SERIOUS" 300$ Minimum for the scoop! the light..though I don't care for them alone are 100$ ask around and don't let that scoop go. It is priceless!

YES sell the Targa scoop seperate! does it have the original stickers on it? If not no worries. You have a 1 of kind scoop! Well two if you count mine. The mounts alone are worth 100$

Well thanks for the heads up on that, I never would've guessed for a second. I suppose I've never seen one on a GS before. I know the bike was originally teal with pink stripes and I found a picture of it online with the scoop and a small fairing around the headlight which I do not have.

Well read my posts..I Had both and I threw away the 1/4 fairing :dunno_black:

I haven't seen any belly pans for $300. Gimbel is $165 + p&h and is excellent fiberglass.

a brand new Suzuki is on ebay for about $250.

I paid $300 for my brand new old stock factory original. $400 for the old TCP complete fairing that was sold by Suzuki (has "Suzuki" and Suzuki part numbers all over it) still in the original box. So price of things can vary .

So what I mean is prices go all over the place and some really great stuff can be founbd if you wait - so just don't over price the belly pan.

Belly pan preference and what someone would pay goes all over the place.

Overall I'd say $500 is very fair. You are missing bar ends, mirrors and tail fairing. Needs clutch lever ($8 but nice if it is fixed)  Paint can be fixed. Fork can be replaced. But that's a lot of bike for $500.

To max your money and since some feel the belly pan is work a lot, why not sell the belly pan separately? I just sold 2 extras I have and more people want one. Get whatever the others feel it is worth (IMO the factory one is nicer).

You might grab a used stock headlight and sell your really cool headlight as a separate item.

Then sell the bike for $500.

I'll sell them separately. $500 seems pretty good and I'm patient. I do have mirrors and turn signals the pic is just a little old. Thanks for the replies.

Then again you do not have the original "Targa" Scoop...he does so at this point it goes from a "Buyers" market to a "Sellers" Market.. He all ready knows I will buy at 300$ the price will just go up!

JB848

Sorry you ain't going to scoop this kid..Now he knows what he has.

Now I am going to give you a chance to redeem yourself..

Dikched.. Search for a scoop for a GS500E and average the price diphsit...

Now you want to buy one legitimately or do you want to steal one from a guy that doesn't know?

I choose to be honest..Now where do you stand 007brenan?

007brendan

Just saying, it's a good racket you got going, I might try it the next time I want to sell something.

I Know dude. There is always one acorn!

JB848

Honestly sell it for you want. What I want is for you to get a fair price and it go to some one that cheerishes like I do. Not to some little dilweed that won't keep it and take care of it.

But it is not mine it is yours.
