Thank you my boots--i'm ok because of you--my leg and every part of it is in place...

Common story--i have priority--my speed is about 35 mph, many cars parked on road left and right, a car from vertical road with stop doesn't stop, i can she her(female driver) the very last moment--she told me she couldn't see me, everything happened so suddenly--i had no time to use my brakes... i hit the bumber of the car with my right leg, my leg somehow ''trapped'' between car and bike for a few mseconds, finally i found myself flying over the car and landing on the road 4-5 meters far. Νοthing but scratches and a small ''dent'' of the leg bone, but is ok now...

These are my boots after the accident:

and closer...

A friend of mine, biker too and orthopaedist told me: without boots, you would have a leg in two pieces...And it is so painful and difficult there, to be healthy again  :o

omg!!!

Thank you my boots... without you i could be on a bed during the summer time...no camping, no trips, no swimming,nothing...you are such essential factor of our riding life...

That's right. She should move slowly and give time to other drivers(me) to react (slow down, honk, change direction a little bit....). It's a war out there guys--be careful.

glad to hear those boots saved your leg.  It looks like the full boots that goes more than 1/2 way up your shins?

Though I can't accuse women alone because there are @$$hole guys too who think they're tough shaZam!.  I wish I had an uzi and sprayed them every time they put my life in danger. :2guns: :2guns:

I prefer to just knock off mirrors. It's always best when it's left hanging on by wires to remind them of what they did until they get to a shop.

Thanks for posting those pictures! I'm glad you're ok.

I always wear full length riding boots, ut often wonder if I really need anything higher than what it takes to cover my ankle. I've never really had any idea what kind of crash I could get in that I could need protection half way to my knee, but after I saw the pictures of your boots, I know exactly why those guards are bolted on there!

redhenracing2

Ankle protection is probably one of the most important parts. I had a good spill once on the gs, and my cowboy boots saved my ankle bones. Just about scraped through the leather in several places. I now have a pair of A* tec 3 boots that will do even more so.

I have to say that before what happened, i was thinking to buy an extra pair of boots that would cover better the legs
(like full length boots as mentioned). Ok, my boots worked just fine, but if the bumper was few inches higher? The ''upper half'' of my leg was ''uncovered''.
You can say that i'm overreacting but if you can stand wearing these boots, it does worth. Apart from the crash, many many times boots saved me and bike from falling down with low speed, in the corners etc, cause they ''gripped'' the road, even when it was raining...and they kept my legs dry and warm. It doen't matter that the last weeks they have started leaking water inside...it's time to get boot covers...

Pick up some MX boots, that'll go almost up to your knee.

When they first came out and I started seeing those riding boots/shoes that basically looked like a riding boot cut off into a high top with a strap above your angle, I definitely didn't like them. The more and more I started seeing people wearing them I guess I got used to the idea and that's what made me wonder. My last pair of boots were prefectly comfortabl, and I could walk in them all day and feel fine. My new boots hurt after only a short while of walking, so that's the only reason I considered something more shoe-like, so I could ride across town or to other things and still be able to walk without my feet hurting. They still cover your ankle, so they do 90% of what a riding boot needs to, but it's definitely good to remember that the last 10% is important too.

Υοu are absolutely right--i had a thought of motocross boots--they cover better than anything. But a friend of mine had one of those and they were very uncomfortable for everyday riding and walking...

So i'm thinking of a pair of touring boots...i think they will be comfortable for every day. Something like this:

I found and something like this:

they are like a mix of touring and motocross boots...

skirecs

i scraped my peg and and wore a tiny hole in my pumas once when my foot was hanging over a bit much

since that day i have only worn my boots

(once i moved the bike from the parking lot to behind the house in flipflops after a soccer game, but that doesn't count)

tucsondude

wow glad your ok. what is a 'dent' from your leg bone?

i am still going to roll these though

getting your foot/ankle crushed is no fun, pf flyeres may stay on and survive 10 ft of pavement, but your feet will still be crushed and bruised.

Ι don't know if the word ''dent'' is approved for this case, maybe i mean bruised as you mentioned. I will use my dictionary one more time.. :D so i think  ''concavity'' is better :dunno_black:
Let me post a picture i found

So, after my leg hit the bumper, was compressed(second image) but not broken(third picture). I could feel with my fingers the compressed area of the bone. It was deep first but now it has almost dissapear.

I like these boots very much--they are very elegant and nice colour. I must say i prefer the black colour because i lubricate the chain with motor oil, the gear change lever gets some of this oil and my boots too... :icon_lol:

tucsondude

when was the last time you cleaned your sprocket cover? black is definitely good until your in triple digit temps.

id consider that a dent, i did not know you could distort a bone like that, and not have it bounce back to shape. hope your dent isnt bruised up to bad.

bruising a bone takes forever to heal/smooth out... ask my jaw...
