What about non-payong buyers?

Should we start giving a negative feedback for people who say they will buy something then you never hear from them again?
It has happened to me quite a few times, making me wonder whether I should take the time to sell here or put on ebay. Most recently, a person said they would send $80 for that windshield then I never heard from them again.
If people have a tendency to make commitments to buy then don't, shouldn't we start flagging them so the rest of us don't waste our time taking offers from them?
And when people do pay promptly, we should always give them a positive feedback so others know they are a reliable buyer.

Yeah I've had that happen a few times myself... On ebay mainly-and by the time you want to  offer it to the next guy he's already bought another one of what you are selling...  but I've also brain farted about things and forgotten stuff before so...

I'm not a big trader, but I wouldn't worry about it if no money or parts are changing hands. I mean once something gets shipped or paid for it's a big deal, but I wouldn't sweat a missed sale. It's kinda duck to do it and not say anything though.

If you sent something to someone and they screwed you over by not paying, they initially paid you but did a charge-back on their credit card or PayPal, etc then I say definitely let us know so we can watch out for the person.

Now, if you somebody just SAID they will buy something or they are interested in something you have but later on decided not to get it, not to respond to your attempts to contact them or just completely went MIA, it would be frustrating for you, but the truth is... it is their freedom. Now, if they had you waste your time prepping the stuff, packing it, etc, then it wouldn't be the most decent thing for them to back out and leave you stranded... but hey... it is a free country. Can't really complain about people deciding to keep their money or taking their business elsewhere.

A couple times in my life I said I would buy something but didn't, but I don't make a habit of it.  There were compelling reasons for me not to go through with it.  Those who have a good reason for backing-out deserve a little slack IMHO, but not much.  I'll give you an example.

I told a guy I would buy his Ninja 750 even though he wanted top buck and wouldn't budge on the price.  It appeared to be in excellent shape and started right up but he didn't have plates on it so I couldn't test ride it.  He also wouldn't take a deposit from me.  He also acted the whole time like he was doing me a favor, which he wasn't.  Had he accepted my deposit I definitely would have gone through with the sale.

In the meantime, I found my GS which suits my needs better and cost half as much.  The kid was friendly, polite, forthcoming with information about the bike, and he allowed me to test ride it.  It ran like a champ so I bought it.  I liked the kid in two minutes.  Hats off to his parents.  He even rode the bike back to my house and I gave him a ride back home, which took almost two hours and he had to work that night.

The Ninja owner was mad as a wet hen when I didn't buy his bike but trust goes both ways and he showed me none.  The guy was a poor salesman.  He bragged about the rich people who bought brand new touring bikes and let the Ninja sit for years who he practically stole it from.  At the same time he's showing me that he's a 50-year-old retired bachelor Teamster who's rich himself and profiteers from used bikes in his spare time.  He admitted he did nothing to the Ninja he was trying to flip to almost double his money in mere days.  It was as if he was doing everything in his power to make me not like him.

That said, those who back-out of small sales more than once without good reasons should be labeled "stiffs".  I would have no problem with such a list on this website.

What aggravates the heck out of me is when someone says they are going to buy something of yours. Then goes behind your back and asks folks on here not telling them who is selling it. You find out about it post in the thread and now you are having your name dragged through the mud and making your item unsaleable. We had already gotten to the point of shipping was just waiting for the PayPal!
