I've had the bike about a month, when I bought it I had to buy a new battery for it, trickle charged, etc. Bike has been running fine, went to go out to start it yesterday after the bike sitting maybe 3 days and I go to start and the bike cranks once then just clicking. I grab some jumper cables and hook it up to my car (not running), jump the bike and take them off immediately, bike ran fine after that, I rode about 20 minutes to school, the bike sat while I was inside school I came out and the bike fired right up. I rode it back home (20 min again), but when I hit my street i noticed the bike died, I thought maybe I bumped the kill switch or something, while rolling I put it in nuetral and started it up again fine, the bike sat for 10 min at my house then I jumped back on started ok again, 5 min out it died while I was going around 40, this time it would not start, cranked twiced then clicking.

That was 2 days ago, today I go out to look at it throw a volt meter on the battery shows 12.3 volts, try to start it and cranks then clicks. battery falls to around 11 volts if I turn to the off position and keep it there the battery climbs back up to over 12 volts rate around 0.01 volt/sec. If I have the key in the "on" position my battery falls at around that rate in voltage.

Ideas? I'm pretty mechanically inclined, and have worked on cars for a few years, but new to bikes I'm sure most principals are the same, but locations of parts that need to be tested, pics, etc would be very helpful...

Thanks in advance!!!!

just jump started bike, while running bike slowly loses voltage then dies, however when revved up (when voltage allows me to use throttle), the voltage spikes up to over 13.6v as if the generator/alternator is working....battery cables look corrosion free, both leads and posts are clean and tight...its the first day over 50 degrees here in KS in the last week, of course my lil suzki wont start!

Unplug regulater/rectifier charge battery and leave overnight if battery remains with 13+volts chances are reg/rec is leaking to earth.(reg/rec found behind right side panel its got 2 plugs and has cooling fins)

So I charged the battery as I was putting it on one of the battery post snapped on me.....ya I dunno how the heck I did it either lmao  :dunno_black: anyways I took off the rectifier while im waiting on my battery to come in, I read on some site about ohm testing the rectifier, im just not sure im doing it 100% correct. Ok heres what I got. 2 sets of wires run off it, 1 set has 2 wires and 1 set has 3. If I take my pos lead to 1 wire on the set with 2 and neg to all 4 other wires, theres continuity on all wires with readings of 1.2-1.9ohms. I cant get any other readings if I reverse my wires I get nada but it doesnt show as an open (having a short)

Wheres the electrical master on here? Haha if possible to test the rectifier without a powersource thatd be great so I can either order a new rectifier or check it off as not tje cause

Thanks!

Don't snap-off any more battery posts, the cavalry's here!  It sounds like your battery wasn't charged enough or was defective from the factory. (it happens)  Your description of your charging system is normal.  I have no reason to suspect anything but the battery at this point.  Battery posts are lead.  Take it easy!  Other than cleaning electrical contacts I would not pursue this problem further until the new battery comes.  Good luck, and take it easy, muscle man!

Something else I thought to add-the battery was less than a month old I went to the local parts store and was given that, it was a 12v 7amh battery, this time I called up the zuki dealer and told them to order me the correct battery, so hopefully thatll fix it then

Ok so heres an update, got my new battery in topped it off with charge and put it on my bike, checked 2 days later still holding a charge, a week later I finally got to started it and ride it, started it with full choke starts ok, then med choke for a bit then finally no choke and its idling fine, I go to take off and anything under 2.9k it sputters ans dies like theres mo gas, so I get it going and 3 blocks out it does, only this time the only way itll start is with it on prime, then while running ill switch back to reg and its fine for a few blocks then dies again, it wont start on reserve or regular, looks like I have plenty of gas in the tank, sometimes it will die when im pulling up to a stop sign the rpms fall when I pull on the clutch and the bike will die

Poor lil GS I just wanna ride her but she has problem after problem lol

Update for this thread incase anyone comes across the same problem. I got a new battery, well the gf picked it up, I'm assuming they saw a girl was picking it up  :dunno_white: so they put the acid in there for her. Well before I charged it I decided to check voltage....12.4 volts...I gave them a call and the guy informed me that it comes 85% charged and to charge it for an hour or so before putting it on the bike. So I am assuming I I just fried my last battery plates as I charged it like 7-8 hours, and may have not been a 100% correct battery for the bike, secondly I believe I just thought there was more gas in the tank than there actually was, I took off the seat and moved lines around anyways to make sure there was no pinch. I've had no problems since the new battery and checkover  :thumb:

Thanks everyone for the help!
I honestly appreciate it all from everyone who responded  :D
