I didn't think a 600cc and 1000cc felt all that different in the range I ride in...I would LOVE to have a BMW S1000RR though.

The only one I really have any interest in is the 04 zx10r. The fact that they had to tone the engine down after that model because people kept killing themselves, kind of appeals to me haha. The last comparison I read between the 04 10r and what I think was a 2010 10r said the 04 still had a faster engine. I really like the idea of being able to go 115mph in 1st gear. I honestly don't even know if I've gone that fast on my current bike yet.

I rode the new Yamaha V-Max about a year and a half ago. Unbelievably fun bike, if you can stand a fuel range of just over 100 miles.

1700cc, ~200HP, V4.

I cannot stand its looks or its weight or its height. The old max was just delish IMHO.
The new one looks like a lizard.

Honda ST1300, Suzuki Bandit 1200-S.

No GS500, yet, but am shopping one tomorrow morning. I'll let you know.

The big bikes are a hoot to ride, but I'm also wanting to add something smaller and a lot lighter to
play with on the local roads. I also have a KLR650 and like it a lot, but there are times it makes me feel like I'm riding a bar stool!

Nice Bandit...2005, last year before the change of faring...

Just askin'...

I'm usually at about 170 miles when the Bandit goes on reserve. Not bad. The St is a different story, with 7.7 gallons on board my butt always calls for a break before the bike does.

I agree on the fairing, looks way better before they changed it. That's actually pretty good on fuel economy, Bandits have ~5 gallon tank right? I get to like, 145ish miles before I hit reserve, lol.

That's not too bad...I usually stop ever hour or so, could just fill up every second stop... :thumb:

Yup...20L (5.3gal) tank...seems like new bikes have 16-17L tanks...don't go as far...I don't know why that is such a hang up for me...I guess I'm spoiled with the GS...

I've had some bikes that did better than others, but I've always just filled up my tank every 100 miles so I don't even think of it anymore.

Yeah, I don't know why it seems to be an issue with me...other than I'm used to not hitting reserve until 300kms(190miles)...but really I stop atleast once in the middle of that to give the bunns a break, take pictures, take a leak...??...really for touring as long as you can go 200kms (125miles) between fills, you should be fine...it's pretty rare that you have to travel any farther than that to get to the next gas station...

I'm planning on heading into the mountains this summer for a few rides, and I am hoping a couple of them can be overnighters...might just try the GS on a mountain day trip to see how it does...otherwise...

This is a hill!

I was just about to say, my next venture will be finding a hill that will let me get both wheels off the ground. I'll save that for a supermoto though.
there is one on a back road which in  a car if you hit it at 40 tops you are flying. and mostly straight too so no uncontrolled flight. i flew on my gs's, my harley, and several cars lol

So that's what happened to your Crown Vic... :icon_twisted:

My buddy had an AMC Eagle that he made fly once...but that was off the side of the road...not intentional, but he hit the tree about eight feet up...the car never flew again... :icon_mrgreen:

His Dad bought my car off me (had two at that point), a 1982 Lada Signet that ran on propane...we called it the Russian Bomb...total piece of crap, but it ran and was tough as nails...

Tank size is an issue for me too.

Guy at works tells me he'd like to come on some of my weekend rides - but - we need to find fuel every 150km (93 miles) cause that's about as far as he can go WTF?

I've got ride routes that are 200km to 220km (125 miles) before fuel stops. One that is 180km (112 miles) and so on. He cannot come on my rides cause he can't get far enough on a tank.

THAT is why tank size is an issue to me. The smaller the tank the less Roaming Ability I have and the fewer rides are available to be taken.

My GS was the fastest bike I had ever been on previously so going from 45hp to 160hp was a spiritual experience for me!
I'm afraid that when I get my full license in April 2012... the GS will have to move out of my garage

I've got my Uncle's '87 GSX-R 1100 in storage, but it hasn't ran in the better part of five years and I can never find the time to tear it down and get it running again. Maybe some day...

Found out I get 230k's till the fuel light comes lights up on my Ducati. And that is riding pretty spirited.

Was the R1 you rode one of the new cross plane ones Unsane?

Unsane

Nopes it was the 2006 model - i think crossplane came in around 2009.
Even so - it was way faster than I had imagined.

Heh I did the same thing.  One day a friend who used to have 2 '08 CBR1000RR's let me ride one for the day.  Needless to say that was the fastest thing I have ever been in besides an airplane, I still only had my GS500F.  I hardly even got to half throttle and was totally losing it!!!  I picked up a Triumph Daytona 675 recently and it is plenty fast, in fact to fast for the street really.  I'd like a liter but I kinda find it hard to justify.  But I'll take a K9 GSXR 1000 sure, or a 750 :D
