Hey everyone! I am a new rider, been riding about two weeks I think it is. Got a pretty good deal I think on a 2004 GS500F with 1,900 miles for $2300. Already put about 600 miles on it, in Seattle weather no less!

James or Vladimir (hence the JV) works, I am 24, I say I am unemployed but that is not technically true, I put in about 12-40 hours a week at Papa John's (schedules can do that when you are one dependable guy out of dozens :cookoo:), but career hunting. Just moved back to the states, moved to Russia to pursue a career in teaching English, and long story short decided I would rather at least try and go into business first. I figured if I was planning on ending up there, might as well start climbing the corporate ladder sooner rather than later!

Always wanted to ride, my dad is a motorcycle cop so always been hearing what a blast it was, and finally finangled my way into it getting the "We won't forbid it, but we don't support it," verdict, had a bike about two days later . Living at home places some limitations there :icon_rolleyes:.

Seems like a pretty exhaustive introductory thread. I like to talk so I type a lot .

Oh I dig riding obviously, reading (Jack Reacher and Harry Dresden series mostly is all), video games, anime (hate to admit it), and though I hate thinking about it I like running (barefoot runner here), but I am not in great shape by any means (makes it harder to enjoy :-X), collecting hats, and beer! :thumb: Keep a list of every (new) beer I drink, have not compiled it in a while but probably in the 400 range now !

Welcome to the forum...

The anime thing is obvious...your avatar gives you away

You picked a great bike to start on, I bought mine last spring and was thinking of "upgrading" all summer...wanting something with more power and leg room...but after looking all winter long, I am having a hard time deciding on what to get...the GS500 does so many things well, other bikes are almost a compromise...yes, there are lots with more power...but then you loose range...some have small fuel tanks (pet peeve of mine)...don't have a center stand...aren't as easy to work on...replacement tires, wow who knew tires were so expensive for other bikes??...so to come back to what I was saying, you picked a ringer to start with... :thumb:

Hope you stay active in the forum...it's nice to have fresh input and ideas...

Oh, almost forgot about the beer...mmmm, beer...come up to Canada and try our beer...you may want to stay... :thumb:

Later.

You'll find there are a few of us in the area. While we don't always consider Issaquah to be Seattle, it is in the area. Then that's our West Seattle pride kicking in. Let us know when you ride over to Alki Beach. Today is perfect riding day!
