She now has a new home and owner.  My 97 GS500 was sold to Knucklehead who just passed his MSF course and got his endorsement.  I rode the bike over to his house yesterday.  It was cold and dreary and the traffic sucked.  Anyway, now I have room for my BMW R1200C.  I'll still be hanging around the forum because my new bike doesn't go any faster then the GS500.  The real reason is because you guys are great and don't have any hang ups about other motorcycles.

Knucklehead said he wants to ride in Rolling Thunder this year.  If anyone else wants to join us let me know and we can organize a group.

Just sold mine a week or two ago and hadn't really though about leaving the forum either. My next bike is just gonna be another suzuki with less HP than the GS anyway haha

Had the GS for a few years but had to replace a few things.  Nothing major, mostly stuff that was damaged from drops.  But I think if I had it long enough, I would have gotten around to replacing everything except for the frame.

The new to me bike is a BMW R1200C.  61 hp pushing 560+ lbs.  I didn't get it to go fast.  I got it because it is a beautiful bike that has a seat comfortable enough for the wife not to complain.

This forum is great.  There is enough experience with other types of bikes that it's like a one-stop shop for info on just about everything.

HP is over rated.  I'm past that stage where I have to go fast.  That's what I loved about the GS.  It was fast enough to handle highway speeds with enough performanace to leave most cars in the dust.  Yet, it was less likely to give you any surprises when it accelerates.

Well if I get my bike fixed, you'll still have to come out on a GS ride once or twice, so I can check out the beemer. I really like them and plan on having one at some point in the future.

During the test ride, the accelleration didn't feel any faster to get up to 60 and the claimed top speed is 110.  I don't plan on reaching top speed too many times but I won't rule it out if I'm on a straight section of the highway and no other cars are in sight.
