I like how these electric vechiles evolves. I don't care about the environment side, just the technology. Last year I tested Quantya electric bike. It was nothing like the Yates' bike, but cool bike thought. It got up to its top speed of 70km/h in under two seconds. Good for riding in a park.

My progression into motorbikes started with an electric-powered mountain bike - running 72volt at 45amps, it was powerful enough to clock 82.5kph on a flat straight and would easily keep up with traffic at 70kph. It had enough grunt to wheelie and throw me off the bike (I weigh 120kg) at 40kph just from giving it too much throttle!

The legal limit for electric bikes in NSW is 200 watts - my bike was running about 5000 watts!



It was just too much fun hooning around on it but it was only a matter of time before i got in trouble with the plus the brakes and suspension on a MTB are not really made for continuous hard stops and bump at high speed. While i was recovering from the wheelie flip, I came to my senses and got myself a legal motorbike

My batteries were empty after about 15 hardcore kilometers and the bike weighed just under 34kg - but this bastard weighs around 300kg and gets only 30km on full noise! Not really efficient or environmentally friendly... but some how I don't think either of those reasons are important to these guys!
