would bandit 1200 swingarm fit on a E with some fabrication?

I'm working on swingarm swap and 180 tire,.......from the research in this forum, it seems like:

GSXR swingarm: no way( or "with massive fabrication")

Bandit 600/1200 swingarm: possible....still I can't find details about how this can be accomplished

katana/rgv250 and other options:.....less information...

I don't wanna do the RGV250 through it looks like the simplest swap.....so how about bandit 1200 + GSXR rear wheel? according to the axle size and other parameters, is it possible to make them fit ? and how much modification is needed? From what I heard, it might be done with:

-grinding the swingarm to fit into GS frame
-new rear shock(I got one from 06 GSXR600, would they fit?)
-offset the front sprocket(buying a new offset srpocket?)
-make some spacers to fit the GSXR rim into the bandit swingarm
-rear brake, rear sprocket and etc.....

What's the point of all this? Is it for performance, or for looks?

for looks mainly.....

I know that 150-160 tire with katana rim is quite enough for performance......but I'm just going for the apperance.....

VFR400 swap perhaps? Single sided bling.

I'd suggest going to a motorcycle dismantler with a large set of vernier callipers. You can build spacers for anything with a narrower pivot dimension, or wider axle shaft, and use lowering links to get the linkage right.

Generally, the typical GS500 shock swap options will work best no matter what swingarm you use. Ideal shock length is determined primarily by the distance between the upper shock mount, and the mount for the lower link. Although you can use a longer shock to lift the rear end up, doing so significantly will screw with the progressiveness of the suspension, and can tend to create clearance issues.

That being said- Good luck with the project.
If you don't have cycle junk yard near you to visit  as Burning1 suggested-- Poke around on ebay -ask the sellers to take  measurements for you -as you need to see if you can use what they are selling... some may be happy to check their stuff out for you if it will lead to a sale...

Jim Knopff put a massive rear tire on his one bike ( "never ending thread about the nicest gs ever" I think is the message title..)..I think he might have done a Jack shaft or something...but he went BIG...

You could also do 160 tire and extend the stock swingarm for looks. A lot of shops can cut, brace and extend your swingarm for under $200. You will need a longer chain though.

Anything prob larger than 160 and you will need to work with sprocket alignment issues.

about the sprocket alignment, I'm thinking about buying a offset sprocket....
but first I would like to know whether a 99-02 Bandit 1200 swingarm/ 97-00 GSXR swingarm would fit into GS with some grinding work...

That or customs has it. Anyways I've put the old swingarm and tire back on. Waiting for my chain to come so I can ride. Can't wait any longer. The ride itch is just too much.
