I just installed a set of RG Racing frame savers and they look great :woohoo:

Easy to do and took very little time.

My only concern is that even though they a perfectly centered one side and only the corner is rubbing against the fairing.

  • Has anyone else had this happen to them????
What did you do to correct it if any????
Should I be concerned about it and will it cause a problem?????

There are R&G's for faired and un-faired bikes. The spacers are slightly different. Which did you order? When the spacers are a different length, did you put them on the correct side?

Though, as I recall, the spacing is different for une un-faired version because the engine sticks out more on the right side (I think). On the set for the faired bike, the spacers are the same length and are slightly longer to clear the fairing.

You can search and see photos of both sides of my Suzi with the R&G frame sliders.

Though I wouldn't worry if they look OK and happen to be touching the fairing on one side. Maybe the fairing is not on correctly?

I ordered the faired version.

Checked the fairing mounting position and everything is correct.

My kit came with 1-"SS" washer
                       1-medium aluminum washer
                       1-thick aluminum washer

I put the "SS" washer on one side of the engine mount rod to take up some of the slack because it was loose. I did not put the other washers on.

I guess I could try placing an aluminum washer on to see if it pushes it out further.

Truth be told, Iit looks good and doesn't bother me as long as it doesn't rub a hole in my fairing.

I don't have Suzi with me. I'm on Trey today. If you still have questions, I can look at Suzi when I get home tonight. The instructions should tell you where the washers go.

adidasguy,

If you don't mind looking at where your washers were placed on both sides that would be a big helpp

Will do tonight when I get home.
Maybe even pictures, too!

Here they are. Hope this helps:

Yours looks exactly like mine except I didn't add the large aluminum washer to the left side. Does the saver touch a little on that top corner. From the pictures it does look like it cmes in contact and that's where mine is touching on both sides.

BTW, someone should make this a sticky because these are the best pictures of how frame savers should be installed. Better than the manufacturer

I can't do it but best bet is to move it to "FAQ" and then make it a sticky.

I am having the same problem, the fairing sliders AND my fairings are getting scratched up and damaged. I am thinking of removing the sliders and shave down the part where it is touching my fairings.
