What's the difference between the 2004+ taillight and the older ones? Mine is a 1992 but I would love to make this work on my bike!

Don't know where you live, but some juristictions have a minimum distance between indicators.  In Australia your blinkers must be a foot apart, your local laws are probably less anal, but still worth checking.

yeah, i dont think this is law in california. as long as u HAVE blinkers.

DOT requires 9 inches in the US. Most states adopt the DOT regulations. There are exemptions for historic vehicles and certain others. You will have to check your local laws. Integrated tail light/blinkers are not legal in WA (unless other legal blinkers are also on the bike) but I haven't heard of anyone getting a ticket for it.

good to know. i doubt i would get ticketed for it. i'll check with my best friend who's oakland PD, see what he thinks.

I'm going to take a stab and say the light is NOT DOT certified (brightness), regardless or turn signal distance.  just my $.02

The '04+ will not work without a lot of modification. But I think Clear Alternatives does make one for your bike.

Oh, and you can use a trailer wiring integrator to accomplish this on your stock lights as well. I think it is in the FAQ.

I hate to be the voice of dissent but have you thought about the safety aspects of that light?  (Damn, I'm starting to sound like my father)  As a motorcyclist you know what an integrated tail light is but I don't think the average motorist understands that the thing flashing in the brake light is a turn signal.  My 2 cents..

I agree having actually looked at the light now, I'd say definately don't do it.  I thought you were talking about the motorscooter style lights with the indicators and tail light side by side under a single cover.  Then I saw it had all three in the centre.  How is anyone supposed to tell which way you're turning at night?  You'd be better of with hand signals, at least someone might understand what they mean.

Well if its a put that way yeah its a bad idea as for me I never really used the signals just looked and went. same as my car look and god no if someone is right behind me in the next lane I will signal to let them slow down or speed up. but on my MC never use them. never used the horn or rear brake either.

i just saw a stock sport bike with blinkers about 2 inches from the brake light. i dont think the distance is an issue, at least in california. also, the side of the brake light you're signaling with lights up, and in orange, not red. seems pretty ok to me. talked to 2 cops that are good friends of mine and they said i wouldn't get pulled over for it.

on another note, how do u guys remember to turn off your blinkers during the day? at night i'm fine, but during the day i often leave my blinkers on for miles on accident cuz i'm used to a car where they turn off automatically, and i can hear them in a car.

I have just gotten in the habit of hitting the cancel button during the upshift.  See burning1's video about chasing the 600s.

I got and put that on my GS and it looks/works great. you will not need and any power(volt) adapters as its runs on 12V. the only thing you will have to do is splice the wires to the existing wiring harness.

The wiring adapter that comes with it fits a CBR 1100XX (97-98) hence the splicing.

My vote: Do it!!!

Some riders get into the habit of "tickling" them as they ride along, like every few blocks just to make sure they're off.  I've taught myself to actually signal "straight ahead", so that if I go left at one intersection, I obviously signal left, and then if I go straight at the next one I push down on the indicator, even if I've already cancelled it.
