Wanted: front fairing bracket for '97 GS500E

Hello everybody,

I'm looking to buy (the sooner, the better) the front fairing bracket (bracket only, I don't need the actual fairing) to replace a snapped one on my '97 GS500E (a truck ran into me last week - not too much damage, but have to fix a few things). It looks like the one on the attached picture.

I had to do this once some time last year - and got one off ebay for £15 (or, yes, forgot to mention, I'm in the UK) - but can't seem to be able to repeat it this time around.

So if anyone is breaking an old GS500 (I think it's the same fairing from 89 to 99 or so, but may be wrong) or is converting to naked - and doesn't want an arm and a leg for it, please get in touch.

Many thanks,
-Aleks

There is one on ebay. The guy bought a warehouse of parts in Israel. I've bought quite a number of parts from him and found him to be a really honest dealer. This is the only front fairing bracket I've seen (other than the one I have with my "E" fairing that's still in the box).

The photo looks different that your photo. There may have been more than one "E" fairing or one is OEM and one is not OEM. Or my guess is that you might have put an "F" fairing on your "E". I note the lack of place to bolt on the bikini headlamps.

Maybe a photo of the bike with the fairing so we know what brand or type of fairing you have.

This is mine, OEM, brand new, found in the backroom of a shop in the UK and was lucky enough to buy it:

And looks like what this bike has (other than the black detailing where this one shown is all candy red)

Any chance you would be willing to sell that E fairing?

adidasguy

Nope.  :nono:

Never ever seen an original still in the original box before. They are so rare.
It's gonna be Junior's summer outfit.  :tongue2:

I have seen parts show up every so often on ebay. You just have to be patient. Once I saw all the parts, each being sold separately.

Is your fairing the Suzuki OEM or a different one? Need pictures! Someone might have what you need if they see the whole fairing to know what it goes with.

adidasguy: Yes, there's more than one on eBay, I did see another one that looked exactly like the one I need.  Unfortunately, the asking price is more than I'm willing to pay.  I paid about $25 last time, so don't feel like paying $120 now. There is another one in UK for £99, which is about $160 - again, more than I'm willing to pay.  I may try to weld the snapped bit back on, but not sure whether that will work.

The '89 fairing bolts on differently, it attaches at the headlight bolts and then there's a brace attached to the forks that goes to the lower part of the fairing, I think it's because of the different handlebars on the '89. Good luck finding your parts man.

Well, my mechanic said he's going to try to weld the snapped part back on.  Incidentally, he ran out of welding gas this weekend, so couldn't do it today - but promised to get it done tomorrow.  Will see what brings.  Hopefully, it'll work and cost less than the new part on ebay.

It depends on whether you're referring to just the headlight cowling, which bolts to the headlight brackets or the extremely rare complete fairing. The picture shows a bracket for a total fairing, not just a headlight cowling. However it is different than the one I have as my "E" fairing kit includes a dual headlamp and there is a mounting for it on the bracket.

In my case, it's the bracket that was part of the complete faring - except I don't have the complete fairing installed, just the front.  I do like the way a naked gs looks, however I do a lot of high speed riding (about 30 miles highway/motorway commute every day) and the windscreen helps a lot.

The bracket bolts onto the front forks (there's a clip for that, which is not part of the image).  Then the headlamp is mounted to this bracket, then the fairing itself it mounted to it, then the mirrors and indicators mount to the bracket through the fairing.

I've posted a couple of pics of my bike before in the "picture game" thread if you want to see how it all looks together.  I'm just too lazy to search for them now.

Is there a website that sells fairings I live in boston ma and its been impossible to find any parts at all help me plz

shchuka

I managed to track one down on eBay.  I've seen some sites that sell fairings and fixings, but they are way too expensive.  I wasn't ready to pay over $150 for the front bracket alone (I live in the UK, so the price was close to £100).  I managed to track one on ebay for £20 (about $35).  So my advice to you: keep searching ebay, use advanced search, especially for items located in other countries willing to ship to the US.  Germany is often a good bet.

You're giving away my secrets for finding parts. Like I just snatched up a set of 1990 clip-ons for $25! A brand new 2004 tank for $250 (shipped from Germany! Dealer said he had one too many and wanted to get rid of it asap so special price. Woo hoo!)

I love parts whoring on ebay. Google searches are good. Especially if you know the part number. I've located new old stock in Spain, Greece, France, Germany and the UK.
