Hi all,

I did a search and could not find an answer. I am doing a complete tear down of my bike so that I can get the frame repainted. I am trying to get the clutch cable out but dont see how to remove it from the arm that it swings. There is a slot to slide the cable through, but there is a tab underneath the little stopper on the end of the cable preventing me from pulling the cable through far enough to slide it out. I dont wanna bend that tab as it looks like it may break. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

On the underside of the clutch you can see a small piece held on by two screws with a pair of wires coming off of it. This is a small switch that moves when the clutch is actuated. It has a tab that sticks up into a hole in the bottom of the lever. This switch is the mechanism that requires you to pull the clutch in to start the bike. Unscrew those two screw and the switch will slide out, and it won't be in the way of you sliding the lever out anymore.

Just don't forget to put this piece back on when you replace the lever, or you won't have much luck starting.

Sorry for the confusion, I am thinking of the other end of the cable, where it goes into the motor. I will post a picture in a little while, was having some camera trouble.

YOu can see in the picture i labeled the slot and the tab. So basically the tab is blocking me from pulling the Metal stop at the end of the cable down through the hole so that I can slip the cable out of the slot. Any idea how to do this?

bend the tab. When you put the cable back in, bend the tab back.

That's how I did all of mine.
