is this the term "cold blooded" or a problem with my bike

I have 04 GS500f, i read before this bike was "cold blooded." Now i'll be honest and say i dont know exactly what that means.

I assume it means it takes a LONG time to warm up. Right now its currently 72 degrees. I started the bike with full choke on. It started and got up to 5k RPM and then went down a bit to 3k. I took it as a sign of it warming up. I put the choke in the middle and it went down to about 2k. After about 5 minutes and all my gear nicely on and etc i turn off the choke and it stays near 1k and dies. fired it up and dies. repeated. So i rev it up and started it and its good. I manually keep it above 1.5k as i moved it out and closed the garage door.

Drove it and it was great no isses with idling and etc. Went down about 5 miles and i took my time about 30minutes. I parked it and came back about 5-8minutes, started it up with no choke and it dies. I gotta play the hold up the revs at 1.5k. I took off and everything seems great again. no issues and i made it back home.

Now is this a case of my bike being cold blooded or is there a problem. Bike has 10k on it, i'm pretty sure no service was ever done. I'll be looking for carb cleaning at the end of the season right before storage. all stock no mods.

Either your carbs need cleaned or your idle screw backed out a little.

spec says idle screw should be 1200 +/- 100.

Should i just make idle at 1500 then... i didn't exactly pay attention earlier to exact RPM but it was in the 1000 -1500 area.

You can bump the idle up to 1500 rpm to make it warm up faster, but that is usually a sign that you are covering up a different issue.
