I've been riding uninsured for the past year or so. Stupid. Need insurance, curious about your experiences... ta!

EDIT:

mistake or not, Mister does NOT want to read any non aussie info on the subject. :icon_lol:
if yer binders ain't squeakin, you ain't tweakin!

@steezin_and_wheezin - instead of editing the post to let us know it is in the Aussie forum, why not delete the rest of your post about prices and whatnot and just leave the "sorry didn't realize" part, otherwise we read it first only to discover you made an error.

@Milos - I am with Swann too. Both my bikes. Cheaper than all the other insurers I called. Apparently (according to my mechanic who does insurance work) they are Slow to pay those who fix bikes after some damage, but that is not our problem is it? Possibl;y only drawback is no afterhours number. So if you need a claim number or whatnot cause of an off on the weekend you need to wait until Mon-Fri business hours.

In Qld your main choices will be Swann, QBE, Suncorp and Shannons. You could also try Insuremyride but Swann, who has Real people, is cheaper than them too.

I didnt realise they were state specific!

I'm thinking I might opt to only get third party damages, so it wont cost much anyway. A few years worth of comprehensive insurance would buy me another GS outright!

I'm with AAMI and I found it cheaper than Swan for all the same protection.

Mmmm.... my full comprehensive for an 09 at $8,200 (agreed price) is only like $215. No wonder no-one else can beat it  :icon_mrgreen: :thumb:

I've got my car, bike, contents and both lots of ctp with suncorp, price for one and for the fact they were the first insurance mob to come out after the floods and say that there customers were fully covered.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

Yea your lucky. I don't have many years on the road on my bike and as such I don't get any quotes even NEAR that price. Wish I did.

I've found the same Trade Count.. $18 a mth, pretty good I think!

I was with swann with the GS cause they were cheap. Thing is there not open 24hrs and alot of it is done online like claim numbers etc. Also insurance repairers & towies have waited ages to be paid from swann which makes them reluctant and can refuse to do their jobs.  I've used suncorp, RACQ, and nrma for bike insurance all of them insure the GS so good place to start.

Thanks slipperymongoose, That dosen;t worry me..  I'll still go with Swann for a bit then self insure.. Like the Cods. :thumb:

Has anyone used InsureMyRide? They're a Suncorp subsidiary, prices seem OK?
