The shims on intake were easy but the exhaust im having a heck of a time. Any suggestions?

I used a screw driver on the bucket the first time. Took 3 screw drivers and a magnet. Basically wedged used a small one to start going down (since the exhaust ones are trickier to get at), then slipped in a larger one to make it go down farther, then took a really tiny one and popped the shim out of the bucket and scooped it with the magnet.

After that ordeal I bought the tool, did it again...mind blown lol. So if you have the money, go buy the tool, it's like 18$ and makes it a 10 second job.

Also, if you haven't watched it already: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2015554469142545363

PS - Seriously...just get the tool and a small telescoping magnet.

thanks for the advice. I had a wedge tool and it just didn't give me the clearance to take the shim out. I think I will order the right tool before I tare something up, lol.

I use the valve tool made by Motion Pro for our bikes and an extendable magnet to pull the shim out.

Have you tried applying a penetrating oil? If not, try it, always the first thing to try on a stuck part...
