Fuel in the airbox

So I am trying to search the forum, but I have less than an hour until I am out from work. If there is anyone with the know how that can answer these questions better/faster please do help me out. I rode about a mile down the road and everything was fine until I stopped at a light and the bike shut off instead of idling. I tried to turn it back on and it would crank over and over but it would not start back up. I had to go take my Sec+ exam, so I left it for about 2 hours in a shaded area. Came back and it still would not start up and this time I looked for leaking fuel or any signs of anything wrong. The hose from the airbox leaked out alot of fuel, and then I waited and tried again. Again more fuel came out of the airbox overflow hose. I believe there may be a carb float stuck or something like that since I just got the bike running again after a few months(which i cleaned the carb about 2 weeks ago) or that I set the floats wrong since that was my first time int the floats and I was not sure how to set them.

Please let me know if there is anything else I must do since I have heard that there could be gas in the oil and all. Also what else can be the fault of the gas flowing into the airbox.

Thanks ahead of time

Or you left the bike on PRI (prime) and flooded the carbs and airbox with fuel. Repeated attempts to start it with fuel in the airbox could very possibly hydrolock your engine.

If you are getting fuel into the air box, than unfortunately that means that there is also gas in your oil now. Once you figure out what is wrong with the bike, you will need to do an oil change before you start riding it. I posted that link that should be very helpful. If you look at my post (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=57376.0) you can get even some more advice and there are more links on how to diagnose and fix the issue you are having. Hope this all helps. I'll be pulling my carbs and adjusting them tonight after I get off of work so I can hopefully be riding here in the next few days.

First off, your cab float needles are sticking open or one of the floats has ended up set way to high.Fix this ASAP. Float height check. http://www.bbburma.net/FloatHeight.htm

Second, change your oil immediately.Your engine has been flooded with fuel if fuel is leaking from the air box drain. When floats stick the carbs internal orifices leak fuel into the engine through the intake valves, past the rings, and directly into the oil sump.

Third,PRI(prime) setting does not flood the carbs with fuel.It simply bypasses the frame petcocks internal vacuum diaphragm, filling the carb bowls with fuel, to make starting easier. The PRI and RES postion have smaller orifices inside the petcock and will cause fuel starvation at higher revs.If your petcock will only run in the PRI setting, you can upgrade it way cheaper than purchasing a factory petcock that will eventually fail again. http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=56352.0
