I find what they wear to be quite strange at time, when i'm driving or riding threw the city and around bondi i see so many people on scooters in buisness suits, as if by riding a scooter they are some how less likly to be hurt when falling off than a motor bike

slipperymongoose

Yeah I cringe when I see an open face helmet, shorts, thongs and short sleeve t shirt or a woolen jumper. Imagine plucking wool out of gravel rash.

There I am riding behind a mud-carter, single lane. Scooter goes buzzing up the inside where cars normally park, swerves suddenly in front of me, slams on the breaks, gets the wobbley weaves and then takes the turn across oncoming traffic. I beeped my horn at him and he beeped back WTF.

Once in the car, driving along in traffic and the scooter darts out from a drive way, cars swerve. He rides maybe 200 yards up the street and then turns off onto another driveway. This one had gravel though and he went down as I was going past him. Work boots, shorts and short sleeve shirt. Dickhead.

The Buddha

Scooterists dont have licences, they are DUI-cycles - chronic DUI and they get their licences taken away.
BTW talk to one of them and you'd see what A$$holes they are. They think its their right to drive drunk, and they would go, cant believe that judge took my licence away man ... I have talked to several and not one of them is a 1/2 decent guy who ever would stop to think WTF will happen if I get tangled up with a motorcycle. Serious, not one has been 1/2 decent, and not one is sober either.
Cool.

I just can't believe how nieve they are coming off at 60km/h is exactly the same on a bike as a scooter.

in nsw they actualy need a licence to ride em, even the tiny 50cc things that barley get to 40kph require a motorbike licence to ride. in qld its a different story for the little scooters

slipperymongoose

Yeah up here you can ride 50cc on a car licence aaaaaand carry a passenger, however I cannot carry a passenger on my restricted motorbike licence.

Ah yes, indeed they look like that up here on the MNC too. I asked one once, "why don't you have a jacket/gloves etc" their reply "What?? Why?? That's not professional looking"  WTF? Neither's bug splatter on your suit but whatever floats your boat.  :flipoff:

There is more to it than that. If they want to carry a pillion passenger on the scooter they have to hold a restricted motorcycle licence for over 12 months. They can not carry a pillion if they only have a car licence.

slipperymongoose

Ahhhhhhh ok that makes sense I thought scooter riders with a car licence could carry a pillion. Here was me thinking the legal system yet again showing it's loop holes and whatnot.

Doesn't stop them, though.

Also, in Qld... you can only carry a pillion on a bike IF you have had a license for that bike for 12 months. So.... say you get your REstricted, have it for 12 months and then Upgrade to open bike license... then you can carry a pillion on your restricted bike but not your open bike.

Meanwhile, today's effort saw... shorts, flipflops, tshirt, dirtbike helmet, on a Scooter.

Previously, scooter woman at air thingy asks me how to put air in her tires... and how much.

The same applies to your drinking limit. And accompanying a learner.

I saw that today except on a dirt bike. Only he had a half face helmet.

"About 200 psi should do." Then you quickly ride off.

slipperymongoose

Geeez clearly logic is a strongpoint of hers. They say one third of all fatal road crashes are motorbikes, I wonder that percentage of that is scooter riders??

Yeah if you have less than I think 150cc you don't have to have any license what-so-ever and it has become a phenomenon down here those that no longer have their licenses pimp them out with hydraulics and other non-sense utting thousands into a $700 scooter. A stretched scooter  :icon_eek: they never wear any gear. But neither does 80% of riders in Fl. I've got to get a camera and show you guys what I deal with on a daily basis. The other day I had a squid on a busa trying to floor it I don't get the duck walking either. But, he'd go over 100 mph to the red lights funny thing is we made it to the same destination at the same time and I followed the speed limit.
