I need a GS500 2001 frame with title.
Preferably an 01, but anything above an 89 should fit.

i bought a 06 complete with a bad engine, but a clean title in hand.  am willing to sell the frame(or maybe the whole bike if you are interested?)

the bike's in radford, va(20 minutes south of VA Tech)

How much for just the frame and title?
I really want something closer to a 2001 for part fits.

For admins:  I bought a parts only bike by mistake.  Though I got it working/running great, pruchased a title bond, and did everything dmv wanted when I went to get title, they said Nope.. You can't have one on a parts/derelict bike ever in the state of Georgia.

After talking to a junkyard or two it turns out your frame won't work for me.  I need a frame from an 89 - 01 gs500.  Thanks though.

I've updated my original post.

Actually the year break is 1989-2000, 2001-2002 (no 2003) then 2004+
Most all parts are interchangeable. For some reason, side stand is 1" shorter on 2004+ but haven't studies why.
While the tank and tail plastics changed in 2001, the rest is about the same.
People have swapped 89-00 engines with 2001+ frames and vice versa.
Because of the change in tank side (gallon bigger) and change in the tail plastics, you need a 2001+ frame. 1989-2000 the plastics mount differently.

You can check the parts lists on a number of sites and dealer sites. You'll see the change in the tank starting in 2001.
You'll also see the years broken down to 1090-1996, 1997-2000 then 2000-2001 and 2004-2006 and 2007+
frames, etc. 2001+ are the same. They break down the years for other reasons - like changes to engine emissions, etc.
2001-2002 did not have fairings. Fairings were added in 2004, so that accounts for one reason for a break in the model year groupings.

That '06 frame will work for you.

You are a great resource.  I think you just made this sell for him.

So just to be clear I can swap part# 41102-01880-13L for part# 41100-01D90-ENM

Keep in mind. I will be swapping everything.  Not just the engine.

I think everyone else would agree that an 01 frame and 06 would be interchangeable.
The ONLY difference I can think of is 04 and on had a bracket on the frame for the fairing and no other differences.

steezin_and_wheezin

thanks for the confirmation adidas!

if you don't want to see the extra brackets on the frame.. i've got a great set of fairings to cover em up :icon_mrgreen:
