Has anyone put LED flat self adhesive strip lights on their bike?

I saw a bike riding down the HWY the other night that was tastefully done with these strip lights.

You need to add some cable ties or something else to keep them in place. All the vibration, grunge and water will make them come loose. Been there - done that - still there!

ghostrider_23

Nice I like the look!!!

I am also looking into your fog lights, would you happen to have a picture of the lights on in the day time????

deaconsfan

Yeah, the adhesive isn't enough to hold them on once you start riding... cable ties work great! I got mine off ebay for like $2 each

Here's a pic in both the light and dark

ghostrider_23

How are you using cable ties to hold them up???

DO you have any pics of this????

Use a couple cable ties to any bracket, wire or whatever you can find. At least in case they fall off - cable tie the wire or have a loop so it won't fall out. By the way, I used the rigid strips, not the flexible ones. Easy to hold in with a couple cable ties.

FYI: Always use connectors so you can unplug them when working on the bike. Never hard wire things in place.

This OK? Those Denali's are LED and pretty bright.

I used these hard, tubes. Because they're hard, you can use cable ties to mount them.

Check local laws. Blue is often illegal except when posing. Blue is police color. Red also has restrictions. A NICE cop talked to me about it when I had blue and said white or amber would be OK - so I went white.

FYI:
No fog lights

Does anyone have a write up on this? Id like to do something like this to my bike but Im not sure how to wire it.

adidasguy

Wiring is pretty simple.
Splice into the wires for the running light. Brown wire going to headlight. It also runs to the back for the tail light.
You can splice into the +12 coming off of the ignition or as it goes to the left hand control for the high/low beam switch.
Consult the wiring diagram as all wires are color coded.
Splice in for +12.
Ground is all over the place, usually black wire with white stripe.
You can get clamp on wire tap-off's from a hardware store or Radio Schlock or Frys. get ones for the correct side of wire.

A few years ago i put the flat strip SMD LEDs on the front of my car, right out there in the world and weather. Ran the wires to the DRLs (aka- on all the time) They are extremely bright, but diffuse, so they wont light up the road, but illuminate the close ground, read: fog lights

They are still there! tens of thousands of miles later. And still bright.

EDIT - i also reinforced the the adhesion with super glue.

I'm still seriously considering doing this as well.
Except electrical work.... im totally in the dark almost.

Be nice if someone did a picture write up on how to install the wiring.

just run the wires into the headlight bucket and use those tappy-inny things they include with trailer wiring kits to grab onto a keyed 12v source. dunzo.

remember to get the right size.

Thats pretty cool, how do u like it? bright enough? more visibility? or is it only cosmetic.

kyleGS500

In my application they are daytime running lights, even though they are blinding in broad daylight, even from a distance, they don't put off much usable light. Something like the ones adidasguy has make more usable light.

I really like the fog lights on the red GS, Adidasguy! I think I'll look into that. Are they switched or just on all the time like the headlight?
