Has anyone here had their rims painted or powder coated???

Any pics would be great.

I am thinking of doing my in Suzuki Blue with maybe a polished outer edge

if you have the $$, powder coat.

Got a lot of plans for the winter and a big one is painting.
everyone has told me to powder coat, also read other places its best as well.
also read its better and more durable on the rims.

I just hope I will have the $$ to do mine like I planned ><
things possibly came up to take some $ off my plans...

Professional automotive painter I know says powdercoating is more durable. Key is to find a powdercoater who uses a lower temp, as aluminum has a fairly low droop temp.

There were pics of a bike that was being parted out on the board recently that had blue wheels with polished edges...

^ that's my baby!  :thumb:  Forks, kickstand, sidestand and grab bar were coated as well.  I'll be doing the handlebar holders soon and one or two other bits.  It was a long process and sometimes a PITA, but worth it in the end.  You will need a dremel or sand paper though, because when you put it back together the coating is thicker than paint and parts might not fit as easily as they once did.  I've discovered that with time, the coating gets a bit dull and cloudy looking.  I haven't researched it, but I'm sure a polish or wax will bring it back?

Also, depending on color and finish, the prices change.  This bike was done in a satin finish.  Black (and I think white) is usually the cheapest.  There are *alot* of different colors and finishes available if you have the $$$.

Check out my thread in the projects section. Powdercoating kicks so much ass it looks rich and you can get metallic flecks in it. And talk about cheap.
Some say that he submitted a $20000 expense claim for some gravel

And that if he'd write a letter of condolance he would at least spell your name right.

I vote for powder coating also. Its not cheap unless you are doing it yourself. The paint and a decent gun is cheap. I just bought 2lbs of high gloss black for $14
