Must have been a dumb thief who mistook it for a Gixxer cause, as I've seen in a sig file here, the GS500 has a cloak of cheapness about it that renders it invisible to thieves. And, the GS500 is the theft deterrent.

At home, it's in a locked garage. At work, a Monitored car park not near anything so no "walk by" thieves would see it.

In shopping centers, I try to avoid the motorcycle parking cause that is where thieves would look to steel a bike. But there is one I do park in the bike parking cause it has prime position right next to the entry doors.

At home the anti theft device is a boxer next door that barks at anything on two legs and breathing and my yard has a Kelpie in it that won't bark but if you come in the yard without her owners, there is a fair chance the back of at least one calf muscle will be her next meal. Oh and its in the driveway carport just behind a gate.
At work its on a military base so would be surprised if it walked.
Shopping centres I park in those motorcycle parks that Mister avoids cause if it gets stolen it gets stolen. I just don't leave anything on it to attract attention.

Mine just sits in the front yard.

I park it where ever is going to get me to where I want to go the quickest.

I forget on a regular basis to remove the keys from the ignition when I park it at home  :cookoo:

If I need to park it somewhere 'sus' I try to park it next to the kinds of bikes thieves like, like GSXRs. Logic being, they'll steal the crotch rocket over the GS  :thumb:

They probably wrestled the tarp off, realized it was a GS, and said forget it.

I once forget the key into the ignition switch over night. Fortunately the bike and key were untouched. Usually I use the steering lock and that's it. I also have a alarmed disk lock, but I rarely use it.

When I first got the GS I kept doing that. Leaving it in the driveway with the key in it as the last bike no one would steal if they could get it to start and so I formed a very bad habit. Neighbours kept bring the key to my front door till I start remembering to take it with me. Good neighbours I have.

Agreed.  Normally the GS is ignored by thieves compared to other bikes.  Normally thieves see the plain steel swingarm and move along.  That's one of the GS's blassings!

I have a alarm brake disc lock (many to remind me there's a lock on the disc before driving off) and installed a form of Lo-Jack called "Find it now USA" which sends a text to your phone with the address where it is and GPS's it's location until the thief rips it out. Other than that I use Mr. Glock and Mr. M4 to protect when I hear the alarm or dog bark.

Really nothing is safe but you can try and Ourea it seems your try worked. congrads to you sir!!!!

I also have a Mr .357, but going to the hassle of getting it out is too bothersome so I have instead over insured the bike.  Now if someone would just steal the bloody thing.

In Australia its legally safer to buy a blue cattle dog and tie that to the bike. It may bite you too but the bike would be safe and probably pissed on allot.

ghostrider_23

OK now you have me wondering, what is a blue cattle dog???

Any pictures??
