Soo.. Gummed up carbs. yeah fun. SPUTTER SPUTTER SPUTTER... blowing air didn't do D1ck Sh1T!!!!! so im trying sea foam, but does anyone know how to use this stuff? I already poored a little bit in my gas tank.. Cause I googled how to use it. and they said I could. So I did. anyway. My gas tank is like 2/5ths full so I only poored like not even half a can in there more like 1/3 of the can. but would it be better to take off the carbs, for the 8th time... and just soak all the jets and what nots? also if I soak, what do I exactly soak? Pictures would be nice. just of either your carb/someone  elses with some reddots/arrows pointing what things to take out and soak..

Also, MY Carb does not have some of the tubing that these do in this picture?

The 2 that connect to the top? That have a Y piece? And the one on the right hand side is there, but it doesn't have that extra piece branching off? are these Carbs from an older GS? Or did the PO, ONCE AGAIN. take something off and didn't put it back on. Also, if these are important parts. How do I obtain them? :)  could someone take some pictures of how EXACTLY a GS500f carb setup should look like? like all connected up to everything and what not.. Cause I think mine are REALLY wrong. By the way, got the image from this guys post > http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=58443.0

You might be better off taking a picture of your carbs and putting the year of your bike. I have a 89 otherwise I would help. Mine dont have any extra tubing.

The best thing to do is drain the gas and get rid of it. Start off with fresh gas and move forward from there. Remove the float bowls and clean them with some carb cleaner.

+1 about the draining, but i refrain from telling folks to use carb cleaner... most folks just start spraying willy nilly all over, and their rubber pieces fall apart. <--- hint

something that is safe for carbs is PineSol. soak em for 2-3 days, assuming your float bowls look like honey/crap.

before you start tearing into the carbs and blaming them for the sky falling... check your over flow line. if it's partially clogged (or fully) the bike will start, then run like poorly. very poorly. i had worms (larva) nestled in mine, and tore through the carbs 5-10 times before covering it back up in disgust. found the worms on the ground and thought...hmm... where'd those come from ? yep, over flow line created a pressure imbalance and bike ran terribly until the line was cleared.

be careful with 'blowing air', you can rip the vacuum boots if you put too much in the wrong place.

....drain your float bowls into a clear container.... look for swirls of clear jelly- that means water, and should be an easy fix. drain the tank, bowls, fresh gas and ride.

check your valve clearance while you have the tank off too.

good luck  O0
