Can somebody explain how to remove the float assembly from the inside of the carb? It looks like it just pulls out but I don't want to break it.

Yup. Pull it at the contact point with the carbs, dont pull at the actual floats or anything.

Should be a gold colored phillips head screw that holds it all in there.  Unscrew that, then gently pull the assembly out, being sure not to lose the needle valve or the metal reatainer pi.

No screw. I assume the newer ones have screws? Mine's a 98.

There should be a pin going left to right at the base of the actual float. Pull it out, but be careful that the float needle doesn't fall out and run across the floor.......

I got it. The whole thing comes out as one piece.

Correct.  Advice you get on the 'net is worth exactly what you pay for it!
