It saddens me to say that I'm going to part ways with my Suzi.  She's a 1993 and I've had her since 1998.  I've had other bikes since then, but the GS500E was always ridden.  Red, superbars, custom fairing, belly pan, white wheels, etc.  Registered in California through May 2012 and always garaged.

Truth be told, it sat for almost a year.  Now, she won't start without ether and dies with throttle.  I tore down and cleaned the carbs twice with new o-rings/gaskets/float and still no dice.

The engine has 10k original miles on it.  I have no reason to believe there's anything wrong with the bike outside of the carb issues and some superficial rust on the frame.

The picture I'm including is from 2009, but it's the same bike plus new grips and bar ends.  I plan to get her out of the garage and clean her up for pictures this weekend or soon thereafter.

Seeing as it's a very clean, but non-working '93 -- I'm asking for the best offer.  Wanted to post here first since I've used this forum for years...

Most likely bad gas or fuel petcock stuck.
New gas, try on PRIME and bet she will continue to run.
Too bad so far from Seattle.
I have an original, in the box, never used fuel tank like that one and the tail plastics to go with it.

I hope it's that simple.  I figured it'd be an afternoon job for someone who knows what they're doing.  I'd love for someone to take it and ride it, not just part it out.

You have an idea of what you're looking to get?

Worst case - dies with throttle - would be low compression. That's how the seller described my parts bike. For under $200 I'll be able to fix that with new (newer used) cylinders and pistons. Maybe same with your bike. Still fixable - just a little dirtier job.

Still might just be bad gas. Try adding seafoam.

Get it to Seattle and I'll buy it then fix it up. Too good to be a parts bike.

Now the parts bike I bought when gsTwins was down: that IS a PARTS bike. (Hey, board was down. What's a parts whore to do? BUY MORE PARTS!)

Will it idle at ALL or just dies after a certain amount of time, no matter what?
