What's your 4-wheeled ride?

There has probably been a thread like this before, but I couldn't find done as of recent.

I drive a 2008 Mazda 3 5-door Touring.  Leather seats, moonroof.  I've got 2006 Miata wheels and painted the calipers black with Mazda 3 decals.  Replaced the ugly long antenna with a stubby one from an Acura RDX.  Upgraded to Hawk HPS brake pads and new rotors recently.  This is a great cheap car, and the first and only car I've bought new.  Mazda knows how to make a driver's car.

The wife drives a loaded 2005 AWD Murano SL.  I like it for the creature features, but it's not the same fun as the Mazda.

Post yours with pics!

madjak30

I've had the same truck for the past few years now...it's reliable and decent on fuel (compared to other 4x4 trucks)...here's a couple of pics

My wifey drives a 2012 Kia Sorento SX...really liking that one too, it's a keeper!!

Later.

Here's my DD, '99 2.5RS. Has always been my dream car since i got my first 99 OBS back in ~2005

Shortly after i got her(mostly unmolested)

I can't access my fancy photos right now, so here's an iPhone shot.  It's a '97 Miata with i/h/e, a roll bar, and only 70k miles on the clock that I picked up as a steal for just a bit more than my GS.  As I write this, I'm realizing there are some odd connections between the two - unusually low miles on both (for their year) and both started out in Hawaii in 1997.

Don't shoot me, but for driving around town (orange county) the Miata is more fun.  No gear, top down, and handles like a dream.  I've owned lots of cars, but the Miata is hands down the best in the fun category. I agree with bombsquad - Mazda makes a car for drivers.

Nice Miata!  I have had a long term dream for a while of getting an old Miata just like that and doing some Miata spec racing.  I'm not going to let that one go.

Nice car steezin'.  That thing would be a ton of fun in the snow.  Wish I had a truck for a picker sometimes too!

thanks mang! she's truely a blast to drive. no boost just a little ol' 4 banger, but with pretty much every bolt on you can get. from reflashed ecu -> full catless i/h/e -> kyb street struts and springs -> whiteline rear sway bar with kartboy endlinks.. the list goes on and on haha.

not to start a war, and this is just opinion.. but the subie tops my old mx5 any day of the week! not saying the miata wasn't fun, it definitely was! guess its just something about that Impreza Love :kiss3:

No war needed.  They are totally different kinds of cars.  Those AWD Subie's are a ton of fun too.  If I was going the more rally racing direction that would be the one for me.

My icy day ride is a 2006 Jeep Commander.  It was actually one of the reasons I picked up the GS in the first place.  At 12mpg in the Commander, the 50mpg of the GS makes it pay for itself!

swhomrighausen

Agreed...very different cars, both of which are great.  I drove my cousins tuned impreza sti home from the mountains and it was a blast.  When that boost kicked in your internal organs felt it. For me though, I love the open air feeling of the miata, which I can take advantage of year round living here.  If I lived somewhere where I had to deal with weather, a Subaru or a toyota 4x4 would be my top pick.

These were the best photos I could find of my car.

It's an Opel Astra '99. As you can see from the photos it's kind of my winter vehicle. It has tree doors and a two litre petrol engine. Those winter wheels are 15", summer wheels are similar, but 16".

Holy balls!  Almost exactly the same as mine: 2007 Mazda3 5-door touring, galaxy gray, manual, but no leather.  I bought it used 2 years ago and have put about 43k miles on it (about to hit 75k).  My 3 is my daily driver, but I autox it too.  How do you like the Hawk pads?  I just put new pads and rotors on but i'm not real happy with the pads, they squeak a lot, despite my liberal use of caliper grease and anti-squeal goo.

I really like those miata wheels, how much did you pay for them?  I do have a second set of wheel's, but they're 16" with winter tires.  My only complaint with the car is early signs of rust inside the rear wheel wells.

Currently tagged vehicles are my kick ass '95 Geo Prizm, an '02 Dodge Dakota and a '79 Camaro Z28 I've had since high school.  I also have an untagged '80 Z28 that is a never ending project (lost motivation) and a '99 Geo Prizm that will be the replacement for my '95 if it ever dies.

'95 Geo Prizm.  This is the little Geo that could.  I bought it from a customer years ago that didn't want to pay the shop diagnostic fee because he "knew it needed a transmission."  I asked him if he wanted to sell it and $600 later it was my sweet new ride.  I replaced the $40 clutch master cylinder that it actually needed (which I would have told him if he payed the diagnostic fee for my time/knowledge) and have been driving it ever since.  This is the car Adfalchius and I took on a 10,000 mile cross country trip this summer.  It is getting close to 200,000 miles now on that transmission the customer knew was bad

'79 Z28.  I've had this car since high school.  It is all original with under 40,000 miles.  It now sits neglected behind my brothers house.  I haven't driven it in 2 years.  Maybe this will be the year I restore it to its former glory...

'02 Dakota.  I don't have any good pictures of it (never thought to take any before).  It has been in my family since new.  It carried ver4, Adfalchius, myself, a trailer and 3 bikes to Florida the last week of 2010.  It has been a good truck up till last year.  It now has a random over heating problem I can't figure out.  Radiator and thermostat have already been replaced.  My best guess is there is a small leak in a head gasket and it is slowly losing coolant.

Here's my 2000 CRV. Doing tow duty last spring. From NC to TX to SoCal..

Bought it 10 years ago with 44k miles. Today it has 189k miles. Looking good, running good. Been across county twice, towing both times. Also towed my hayabusa from SoCal to Texas and back last october.

Gets crap for gas millage (AWD) but runs strong and paid off.

That's awesome.  Mine's actually an automatic :(. I had to get an auto because when I bought it I was sharing it with my wife a lot more.  Otherwise I might have been able to swing the speed 3.  Auto has it's comfort advantages too though.  I have put all 53k on my car.  The Hawk pads are really good.  Once I bled the brakes and put some anti-squeal on the back of the pads they were perfect.  Great feel after break-in and no noise.

I got my wheels in 2008 from someone on the miata.net forums for $500 for all 4 shipped.  They bolt right on and accept 225/45/17's with no clearance issues.  They are my summer set-up.  I put winter tires on my stock 17" snowflake shape wheels.

Sorry to hear about the rust.  That sucks!  I knew the old Protege 5-doors had problems with the back wheel wells, but I hadn't seen a newer 3 with any rust yet.  No sign of rust on mine yet, and I'm crossing my fingers because I think I'm going to drive it for a few years to come.

I love Subarus! I used to have an outback(bought it for the dogs haha) but it was a good car. If I was looking for another car I would've bought a Subaru wrx. They look like too much fun.

Anyway, looove my truck, just bought it in August. Aside from motorcycles, I think it's the best thing I've ever bought, don't think I'll ever want to drive a car again. I do miss the heated seats in the outback, but that's easy enough to fix with a heated seat cover someday.

and again, had to buy the access cab for the dogs. It's no where near the space they had in the outback, but they don't chip in on the gas either  :icon_mrgreen:

I know this is boring without pics, but I have a '99 Miata that I've done a few things with (seat heaters, sound insulation, FM Springs, shocks, frame brace, roll bar....)  Next on the list now that I'm married and a kid may be in the future is an '09 Honda Fit.  Car will be the practical ride, bike is the good time.
