Hey everyone, here is a quick bit of into about my situation. Bought a 2007 GS500f a while back and loved it, ended up selling it due to needing the funds for more important reasons. While I had that GS500f I always has thought about doing the F to E conversion. I recently purchased another GS500F it is a 2005. I am now serious about doing the conversion and wondering if the link below, a 1991 GS500E ears and tube mounts will work for the conversion for my 2005. If someone has information about a site that provides a setup that is more efficient or better priced I would truly appreciate that information.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-Suzuki-GS500-GS500E-Headlight-Ears-Mounts-/260961008007?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3cc27cf987#ht_4459wt_860

I did try to do some searching of what was the correct headlight size and I believe its about a 7". I was unable to find out information on which tube mounts work best. I have see the link floating around about parts needed but not pictures on the install process or the parts used.

MODS: If this post needs to be relocated, please feel free to move it for me. Thank you.

Thanks in advance to everyone and their input. Its glad to be back to the site again!

Those should work just fine, and the price is good imo. I traded my modified F headlight and brackets for an E headlight and ears, and paid about $30 for the fork mounts. A 7" headlight is what you'll want for the E conversion.

I'll go down to the garage in a bit to look at my bike and give you a breakdown of how to do it unless someone chimes in first.

Remove the top triple and slide them on.
7" headlight.
Just plug it in. That's all. If your new headlight does not have a running light (mine does) then don't connect the running light wires to anything.
All your wiring is under the tank, so nothing goes in the headlight bucket.

Here you go on my work in progress - minus the headlight and turn signals. Brackets are on the forks.

And then with the headlight bolted on and turn signals added. Pretty simple. You may need to change turn signal connectors depending on what you get and what your wiring harness has. That's easy - just 2 wires for each.

Turn signals mount to the headlight brackets.

K.rollin - thanks for the input about the link I provided. If you wouldn't mind I would like a break down of how to remove the top triple. I could probably figure it out but the more information I have, the better!

Adidasguy - thanks for the information along with the pictures. If you could also go into a little more detail on how to remove the top triple that would be much appreciated. Have you notice that most 7" round lights will just plug into the existing headlight harness? Or will some simple wiring need to be done?

Thanks again for everyone's input. I do appreciate it!

Top triple:
Remove the top center stem bolt.
Loosen the t bolts on the top triple. They are the ones on the black plate and at each side where it clamps to the top of the fork.
Then gently wiggle it up and off.
Drop in the fork braces for the headlamp (there is a left and a right).
Slip the top plates back on.
Tighten stem bolt and the 2 side bolts that clamp the top of the forks. The stem bolt: don't over tighten. Check the manual for proper torque. Too tight will give you stiff steering.

Awesome, thank you for that! Sure is nice to be back to the forum again!

adidasguy pretty much broke down the top triple removal process, so I won't address that. Anything with a 3 prong H4 connector should plug right in to the bike's wiring harness IIRC.

I did the same thing to Phenix. I put the front end on the realized I forgot the headlight brackets.  :cookoo:  So I just took the top off.

If your bike has been in a lot of rain, you MIGHT want to lift the front up a little so the steering stem come out an inch. Then use your finger and slop some fresh grease on the bottom bearing. Then do same on the top bearing.
