If I mount it to the inside of the exhaust mount, instead of the outside, it wont clearance the swingarm.

Oh I wasnt knocking it at all, it was just an observation.  You did good with it, much better then using a beer can, hanger and duct tape.

I'm an old man now by motorcycle standards (no offense Jack), chicken strips are my friend     On a serious note though, lack of chicken strips can actually be a sign of poor body positioning on a street bike.  If you are positioning your body weight to high in a turn you have to lean the bike over farther to compensate, common problem with novice riders.  Thanks for the compliment codajastal but I'm going to feel really outdated if you don't know where I ripped off the idea for that paint job...
