I could buy a stock Ninja 650 exhaust, and it would look better and probably sound better for 1/10th the cost of yours.

Sorry, just can't justify that kind of money for a square box.   :nono:

Or you could not post in a thread if you aren't going to be constructive.  Jim is always helpful and has a lot of interesting projects like that last twin exhaust he made.

If you aren't interested in buying, move along.

Plus, you'd be into a stock ninja exhaust with time on a welder to get the header/collector so it'd be alot more than 1/10.

Good luck Jim :)

Servus could be used as goodbye too right? lol

Or if you don't have anything constructive to add to my post, you can move along.  I have no experience with Jim, but do not doubt he is helpful, or full of interesting projects.  However, I will speak as freely as I like regarding his posts.  This is an open forum, and will be treated as such.

You know what?  Scratch that.  I'll be the bigger person and walk away.  Jim, I applaud your ingenuity, and good luck with your sale.   :thumb:

sigh.... reread your post.  Noone asked you if you could do it for a 1/10th of the price, noone asked you if you thought it was worth it.

How don't you see that as being disruptive?

Someone else may find value in what he has and likes it.  What if someone wanted a box?

Someone else may find value in what he has and likes it.  What if someone wanted a box?

And what if someone was interested in another alternative for underengine exhaust?

The point is, he posted in an open forum, and I responded with my opinion.  If you do not like it, then skip my post.  Don't come along and pretend that you have the power to make me "move away" from a thread, because you don't.  Jim is, according to you, "always helpful and has a lot of interesting projects..".  From the video, it appears Jim is something else; an adult.  I'm certain that he could handle his own battles, and ask me to leave his thread.

As I said before, I will walk away before this turns into some pissing contest, because well, it's just not worth it.  I am entitled to my opinion, as you are entitled to yours.  My request?  Keeps yours away from me if you're going to attack my posts.

im not trying to be a duck with my post.. but asking 300 for a untested unproven home made exhaust system is not exactly what I would call a deal... especially when there are NO details and a youtube video shot with a calculator...

Rude.   Thats basically it.   Your opinion is WORTHLESS in a For sale thread.

Alot of other forums don't allow people to post on the sale thread for exactly this reason.

Jim never asked anyone here if you thought it was worth it.  He posted a part for sale and here come the flames from people who aren't even interested in purchasing it.

"Jim can fight his own battles"  - What?  So you admit you weren't being constructive and just flaming his FS thread.  Cool, at least we are on the same page that you didn't post on this thread about the exhaust at all, but rather your opinion.  Which,  I mentioned before, is worthless in a for sale thread.

You sir, are the one being rude.  No one asked for my opinion?  The same can be said of you, as I certainly didn't ask for it.

By him posting a thread, it was made open for anyone's thoughts to freely be posted in response.  Whether you like it or not.  Frankly, I couldn't care less.  Apparently it needs to be said again, if you don't like my opinion then skip my posts.

By stating that Jim could "fight his own battles", I was alluding to the fact that if he had an issue with my response, then he could handle it himself.  I'm certain he doesn't need you "policing" for him.

Foolish?  I said "according to you", as I have no prior experience with him myself.  I'm not one to assume about people, and it's clear that you are.  I am neither rude, nor foolish.

And yes, I have seen several of his projects while performing various searches of the forum.  They appear to be quality work, but again, I have no experience with him, so I left the opinion open for someone who does.

That said, Nicky, I apologize if I've offended you.  I had no intention of being rude, and was simply posting my opinion (worthless though it may be).

Jim, I'm getting off your thread now.  Best of luck in the sale.   :thumb:  Based on what I've seen of you're prior work, I'm certain it is excellent quality.  Hopefully someone comes along with the funds and takes it off your hands.

I don't care if you like what I say,  it should be said because I'm pointing out that your being rude only for the purpose of expressing an opinion noone asked for ON A FOR SALE THREAD.

This website is an online community, not a regular public general talk forum.  Jim has been a member since 2003, has posted regularly about his cool projects and helped alot of people.  I choose to treat people who contribute regularly and are civil to others with respect they deserve, not shaZam! all over their threads when they are trying to make a sale.

Would you walk up to Jim when he was speaking to a customer in real life and express your opinion while he is trying to close a sale?  No, of course not, because no person in their right mind would interrupt someone conducting a business transaction involving two consensual parties.

But what did you do on this thread?  Exactly that.  Any potential buyer that wanted the exhaust that isn't technically savvy now thinks that according to you, he can find a Ninja exhaust and have it on for "1/10th of the price".

So instead of contacting Jim, that person is now shopping for a Ninja exhaust that may not even work as well as Jim's does or they may not even be able to install.

So yea, you are being rude and totally out of line posting a personal opinion on a thread that doesn't ask for it.

I attempted to save the thread for the Jim with that first post but its done now.  Anyone reading this probably already forgot about the exhaust.

Good job.

NickyNumbers

And your not offending me,  this is just about being civil.

Just think if you'd want someone to do that to your thread.  I wouldn't.

I certainly haven't ever walked into a thread and said "THATS NOT WORTH BUYING".  (only the EFI thread I said that wasn't worth building lol)

Maybe its not to me, but hey, I can't speak for everyone.  Posting negative comments on a thread that doesn't even ask for them does nothing for the OP or the potential buyer.

Kijona

The bottom line is don't post in a public forum, where people are more than welcome to voice their opinions, if you don't want any negative feedback.

I think you need to slow down, Nicky. The point he was trying to make was that it would be cheaper and possibly more cosmetically appealing to put a Ninja exhaust on it. You chose to overreact to his honest opinion. That sir, is on you.

I wouldn't applaud me for making people forget about the initial topic, as you played just as large a part in it.

I understand where you're coming from, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm still entitled to post my opinion freely on any thread I choose to.

It was not my intention to lead people into believing that they could purchase and install a Ninja 650 exhaust for that little.  Just a reminder that there are other options out there.

I was, in fact, interested in underengine exhaust when I first came to this thread.  In fact, I recently started a thread about just that.  However, after seeing the price, I was turned away.  I cannot justify spending that much on an exhaust that so little information was provided about.  You said yourself that you'd have to have time on a welder to the header/collector.  How do you know that you wouldn't have to do the same for this exhaust?   :dunno_black:  He doesn't state what is included in it.

Jim, could you provide some details about the exhaust?

You guys are being completely out of line.  You want a public forum?  Go to yahoo answers.

This is a bike forum.  Public?  Sure, anyone can sign up.  But who is signing up here mostly.  Bike enthusiasts, owners.  People you are supposed to converse and talk with.

Show a little class.   People act like such knobs on the internet than they normally would in real life.

This wouldn't even be an issue if we are all standing around together in a parking lot at a bike meet.  Why should we treat each other differently just because we are sitting behind a computer?

Just please both of you answer two questions and I will shut up.

Can you make a similar exhaust for a 1/10th of the price as originally stated, factoring in your time as labor and materials?

Does the title of this thread in any way suggest asking for an OPINION on different under engine exhaust systems?

crzydood17

There are many a thread in the for sale area when someone posted questioning the product and its condition, usefulness, and price. This isn't fleabay...
