hello, I'm trying to get the right carb repair kit for my 2007 suzuki gs500F.
the only kits i could find are for the 04-06 models. (see link)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SUZUKI-CARBURETOR-REPAIR-KIT-GS500-GS-500-2004-2006-/360324071457?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53e4fd0021&vxp=mtr#ht_500wt_1156

i know the main gasket o'ring is different...(i could pick that up separately from bike bandit or something)... my question is; does anyone know if the O-RINGS, FLOAT VALVE ASSY OR FLOAT NEEDLE are compatible?
thanks in advance

(the image on the left os the carb for the 2007, the image on the right is of the repair kit for 04-06)

Don't go by the pictures that you posted on the right, they are only stock photos.

2008 Husqvarna 510 SMR
2002 Honda CR 250 "Project Pain-in-the-ass"
2001 Honda XR 50

Not sure, someone with a newer 500F will surely chime in soon to tell you what parts are compatible.  I was just pointing out that most of the pics on e-bay listings for things like this are generic pics.

Go look at the parts fisch. You'll see the parts are the same.
Also, the carb model number is the same from 2001-present  - Mikuni BSR34
There were emissions additions like the "California Canister", TPS and PAIR system. The basic carb is the same model number.

Remember that parts companies often break up parts compatibility according to Suzuki lists - i.e.
1989-1996, 1997-2000, 2001-2002, 2003 (Europe only), 2004-2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009

EVEN THOUGH WE KNOW THERE IS TONS OF COMPATIBILITY!

PS: FYI: Wow! Browsing the service manual and reading the appendices is really an eye opener of the small changes from year to year starting in 2001. I was first looking for the carb model number to see if it changed from 06 to 07. You can identify which year the TPS was added, forks changed, etc. I even saw why handlebars have a punch mark on them - for aligning the rotation/position of the front brake master cylinder! Who ever knew that or even noticed a punch mark on the handle bars? Even a trouble shooting flow chart for the problem Bluesmudge is having.

It pays to read!

While there are similarities, there are more differences between the carbs from 2001-present.   I found this out while trying to source needle valves and seats for my 2001 carb.  The only other year that has the same carb with the same needle valves and seats is the 2002.  The part #'s for all the others are totally different.

In the case of the OP, the carbs, float gasket, and needle valves/seats are interchangeable from 2006 to 2007.
